College Basketball action within the Atlantic 10 Conference and we will see the Fordham Rams duke it out with the St Bonaventure Bonnies. This contest will take place at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.
The Rams enter this game off a 66-61 road loss to Duquesne to fall to 0-2 in league play, while the Bonnies are off a 73-47 home win over St Joe’s to move to 1-1 within the Atlantic 10.
Rams Struggle To Score At Duquesne
The Fordham Rams have struggled to score all year as you can see from the number below, but that offense had a really bad night against the Duquesne Dukes in their last action. The Rams lost that game by a score of 66-61 and they have now averaged 56.3 ppg over their last three games. That will not get it done these days and the Rams did lose all three of those games. Fordham shot just 36.4% from the field overall, including 35.5% (11/31) from long range. They also went to the free throw line just eight times and converted on only two of their chances. It will not getter for them in this one and the Bonnies have played good defense this year. Leading their attack was Jalen Cobb (10.3 ppg) who had 16 points and nine boards, while Antwon Portley (12.1 ppg) and Nick Honor (16.0 ppg) combined for 25 points on 10/30 shooting. The Rams did allow the Dukes to hit 46.8% of their shots overall and they will look for a better showing against a poor offense in this one.
The Rams enter this game ranked 282nd in the nation in scoring at 69.7 ppg, while also ranking 267th in shooting (42.6%), 154th in three-point shooting (34.8%) and 253rd in free throw shooting (67.3%). On defense, they are 31st in points allowed, giving up 63.8 ppg, while also ranking 112th in defensive FG% (42.1%) and 30th in three-point defense (29.3%).
Bonnies Crush Hawks In A-10 Home Opener
The St Bonaventure Bonnies have had a rough start to their season as they are 5-10 overall, but they are now 1-1 in league play after crushing St Joes at home by a score of 73-47. They completely dominated St Joes and will look for a similar effort in this one. That defense had a strong outing against the Hawks, as they held them to just 29.1% shooting from the field overall, including 20% (5/25) from long range. They have a shot at another performance like that as Fordham is not a good offensive team at all. The Bonnies hit just 25% (5/20) from long range in the win, but they also hit 52.7% of their shots overall and committed just nine turnovers. The Rams have been a strong defensive team this year, so the Bonnies could struggle to score in this one. Leading their attack in the win was LaDarien Griffin (17.7 ppg), who had 19, while Nelson Kaputo (8.6 ppg) had 13.

The Bonnies enter this game ranked 314th in the nation in scoring at 66.9 ppg, while also ranking 225th in shooting (43.8%), 237th in three-point shooting (32.9%) and 119th in free throw shooting (71.9%). On defense, they are 55th in points allowed, giving up 66.1 ppg, while also ranking 89th in defensive FG% (41.4%) and 127th in three-point defense (32.5%).
St Bonaventure is:
- 8-2 ATS the last 10 games in this series
- The Under is 13-3-1 in their last 17 overall
- 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
- 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Bonnies have not played that well away from home, but I see them doing so here. The Bonnies have gone just 5-10 overall this year, but the Favorite is 8-2 ATS the last 10 games in the series. St Bonaventure has a strong defense and will be able to shut down a weak Rams offense in this one. Fordham has lost their last three games in a row and I will look for their skid to hit four in a row.
Prediction: St Bonaventure -6.5
Full-Game Total Pick
I will look for this one to go Under the total. It is a low OU line and with good reason as these are two of the worst offensive teams in the A-10 and they are also two of the best defensive teams in the league. We also note that Fordham’s pace ranks 339th in the nation, while St Bonaventure’s pace is at 323rd in the nation. Bad offense + bad defense + slow pace = low-scoring game.
Prediction: Under 121.5
