A pair of SEC rivals better known for their rivalry on the gridiron take their battle to the hardwood in the Yellowhammer State. The Georgia Bulldogs are on the road as they face the #11 Auburn Tigers Saturday afternoon. Georgia downed Vanderbilt 82-63 at home in their last contest on Wednesday night. Auburn was upended 82-67 on the road by Ole Miss in an upset Wednesday night. The Tigers lead the all-time series 73-50 and have taken the last two meetings, including a 78-61 road win in the last matchup on February 10, 2018.

Georgia Bulldogs Shoot For Back to Back Wins in Conference Play

Georgia took care of business against Vanderbilt at home in their last contest to pick up their first conference win of the season here. The Bulldogs now hope to make it two straight SEC victories here as they make the trip on the road. Georgia led by one at the half and held that one point edge midway through the second half before closing out the game on a 26-8 run to earn the victory. The Bulldogs shot 46.7 percent from the field in the contest, including nine of 26 from three point range, and limited the Commodores to 32.9 percent shooting in the contest. Rayshaun Hammonds led the way for Georgia with 19 points in the win.

The Bulldogs are averaging 77.3 points per game this season. Georgia is excellent on the glass this season as they collect 42.2 boards a night while dishing out 14.4 assists per contest. The Bulldogs are average on the defensive end of the floor as they are 188th in scoring defense by allowing 71.8 points per game. Rayshaun Hammonds is the team’s leading scorer with 14.2 points plus 6.4 rebounds per contest. Nicolas Claxton puts up 12.4 points plus 9.9 rebounds a night while Tyree Crump chips in 10.6 points a contest. Derek Ogbeide (10.3 points), Teshaun Hightower, Tye Fagan, E’Torrion Wilridge, Jordan Harris and William Jackson II are key pieces for the Bulldogs’ rotation. Georgia shoots 46.7 percent from the field this season. The Bulldogs average 6.6 triples a night on 32.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Georgia is average at the charity stripe, cashing in 72.4 percent at the line.

Auburn Tigers Try to Regroup After Conference Defeat

Auburn was dumped by Ole Miss on the road in their last contest, bringing an end to their two game win streak. The Tigers suffered a loss in their conference opener and look to even their record in this contest. Auburn trailed by 13 at the half and closed to within 63-60 with 7:05 to play in the game before getting outscored 13-2 over the next five and a half minutes to slam the door shut. The Tigers shot 32.8 percent from the field, including 14 of 39 from three point range, but lost the rebounding battle 45-37. Bryce Brown led Auburn with 23 points in the loss.

The Tigers are piling up an average of 83.7 points per game this season. Auburn pulls down an average of 39 rebounds per game while dishing out an average of 16.5 assists per contest. The Tigers are terrific on the defensive end, ranking 51st in the nation in scoring defense as they allow 65.7 points per game. Bryce Brown leads the team with 15.9 points per game this season. Jared Harper (14.5 points, 6.7 assists), Austin Wiley (11.5 points) and Chuma Okeke (10.3 points, 6.2 rebounds) each are averaging in double figures. Malik Dunbar, Samir Doughty, Anfernee McLemore and and Horace Spencer each put up at least 4.2 points per game this season. Auburn shoots 45.3 percent from the field as a team on the year. The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

This one is going to be tough as Auburn put together a dud against Ole Miss on the road. Fortunately for the Tigers, they’re back home in this contest, where they are 8-0 on the season. Georgia downed Vanderbilt in their last one but this one is on the road. The Bulldogs have gone just 1-2 on the road this season and they have been mediocre at best on the defensive end of the floor. It’s going to be a challenge for Georgia to keep up with the Auburn offensive attack. Look for the Tigers to get the win here.

Prediction: Auburn Tigers -12.5

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

Auburn is a high octane offensive attack this season as they are piling up better than 83 points per game on the year. The Tigers are firing up a ton of three point attempts and knocking down double digit triples a night. Auburn is going to put pressure on Georgia, who is going to have to come up with a solid shooting night of their own in this one to hang in on the road. The Bulldogs are good offensively but can their defense help keep them in the game against Auburn’s relentless attack?

The under is 12-2 in the Bulldogs’ last 14 Saturday games, 5-1 in their last six at home, 17-5 in their last 22 on the road and 17-5 in their last 22 on the road against teams with a winning home record. Auburn has seen the under go 5-1 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 4-1 in their last five against SEC opponents. This one falls just short of the total as Georgia’s offense can’t put enough numbers on the board.

Prediction: 146.5
