The Penn Quakers started the season 10-2 but they will be hoping to halt a three-game losing streak when they host the Princeton Tigers at The Palestra on Saturday afternoon. Now 10-5, Penn is coming off consecutive setbacks against Toledo, Monmouth, and none other than Princeton. The Tigers have won three in a row at the expense of Lafayette, Arizona State, and the Quakers.

Player of the Week

Princeton junior Richmond Aririguzoh earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors after scoring a career-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds in a 68-65 overtime defeat of Penn last weekend. He has already logged more minutes this season (317) than in his first two seasons combined (313) and has scored more points this season (137) than in his first two campaigns combined (93). Aririguzoh is shooting 65.7 percent from the field after shooting 55.1 percent over his first two seasons and has improved his free-throw shooting to 77.6 percent after previously shooting 44.7 percent. He also improved his rebounding average to 5.1 rpg. Aririguzoh has already delivered 10 double-figure scoring games this season after no such games over his first two go-arounds at Princeton.

Senior Myles Stephens had his third double-double of the season against Penn, already his most in a season as a Tiger. Aririguzoh and Devin Cannady have one each this season. Stephens, who has six career double-doubles, is the first Tiger with three in a season since Henry Caruso produced three in 2015-16. Princeton has averaged 7.3 turnovers a game over the last three games (Lafayette, Arizona State, Duke) after averaging 13.6 ppg over the first 10 games of the season.

Previous meeting

Penn fought back from a 59-51 deficit late in regulation to force overtime on Saturday against Princeton, but the Tigers were able to make the late plays in the extra frame. Junior A.J. Brodeur had his fourth double-double this season and the 13th of his career, going for 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Junior Devon Goodman scored 15 points for his best output since scoring 16 against Miami a month ago. Senior Antonio Woods and freshman Bryce Washington scored 11 points apiece; both players reached double-digits in scoring for the second straight game.

The loss was Penn’s third in a row,and the second this week that required overtime. It marked the 18th overtime game in this big rivalry (which has been played 240 times). Eight of those OT games have come since the 2003-04 campaign. For the first time this season, Penn lost a game in which it shot a better field-goal percentage than its opponent (41.9 percent to Princeton’s 37.8 percent clip); the Quakers were previously 10-0 in such games.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet

Five Penn players have recorded at least 25 assists this season: seniors Woods (40), Max Rothschild (31), and Jake Silpe (25), plus juniors Brodeur (team-high 55) and Goodman (33). In its first 20 regular-season Ivy League games under head coach Steve Donahue, Penn compiled a .250 winning percentage (5-for-15); in its last 23 under Donahue it boasts a .783 winning percentage (18-5). Princeton is 2-8 in its last 10 on the road against opponents with winning home records and 1-4 in its last five on the road against opponents with home winning percentages over .600.

Prediction: Penn Quakers

Full-Game Total Pick

Penn put the absolute clamps down on Princeton last weekend but simply could not score enough points to prevail. The Tigers have been held to 68 or less in three of their last four outings. The under is 5-1 in the Tigers’ last six against opponents with winning percentages over .600, 5-2 in their last seven on the road against opponents with winning home records, and 4-1 in their last five following a win. It is also 7-3 in the Quakers’ last 10 overall and 5-0 in their last five on Saturdays. Look for this one to stay under the total.
