Boise State remains in Laramie to take on Wyoming for the second time in three days. These days played each other on Jan. 11 with the Broncos winning 83-60.

Doutrive and Kigab lead Broncos over Cowboys

Devonaire Doutrive and Abu Kigab tallied 21 points to lead Boise State over Wyoming in the first matchup on Jan. 1. The Broncos shot 52% from the field and outrebounded the Cowboys 44-22. The win was Boise State's 11th straight and placed them atop of the Mountain West Conference at 7-0. The 11 straight wins is a program record and they matched the 1987-88 squad with the best conference start ever.

“It’s funny because as a coach, and maybe even as a player with social media nowadays, they probably see it and hear it all the time because it’s talked about a lot,” Boise State coach Leon Rice said of the team’s current winning streak in a postgame Zoom interview on

“But we don’t really talk about that. We’re just getting on to the next. We’ll celebrate this one. We’ve got tonight to enjoy it and then we’re back to work tomorrow.

Boise State is led by Derrick Alston Jr., who averages 16.7 points per game on 45.4% shooting (38.2% 3pt). Kigab adds 13.6 points and 5.8 rebounds on 54.1% shooting (34.5% 3pt).

Looking to stop the streak

When Boise State beat up on Wyoming, the Broncos weren't destroying some wounded duck. Wyoming had won six straight games before losing their last two. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, after beating Fresno State by four points on Jan. 2 on the road. they were crushed by 20 by the Bulldogs in the next game 81-61. It's possible that the blowout loss to Fresno State, that halted that six-game winning streak took the steam and swag out of the young Cowboys.

“That is a team (Boise State) of juniors and seniors and guys who have been in a lot of games that gives them a toughness,” UW head coach Jeff Linder said to “That is what you saw from them the last seven minutes after we had cut their lead to five. But from that point on we got out-scored 20-2 that last 7:23, and you could see where they (Boise State) took their level of intensity and effort up a notch.”

This is a squad that can score the basketball. They average 79.8 points per game on 45.7% shooting (37.5% 3pt). But defense has been an issue. They allow 75.8 points per game (288th) on 46.1% shooting (34.1% 3pt). According to KenPom, they rank 300th in adjusted defensive efficiency. Marcus Williams leads the Cowboys with 17.4 points per game, while Hunter Maldonado is the top rebounder (6.2) and playmakers (5.6apg).

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

This is such a psychological game. Wyoming was riding high on a winning streak before the last two games. But they are a young squad that competed hard in the first half against Boise State, but fell apart in the second half. The good news is that they turned the ball over just seven times. With a better effort on the boards, they will compete and cover in this one at home after some adjustments. They are not as bad as they've shown in their last two games.

Prediction: Wyoming +9.5

Full-Game Total Pick
