The Florida State Seminoles will host the NC State Wolfpack in an ACC battle on Wednesday night. The Wolfpack are attempting to avoid a third straight defeat. They are coming off a home loss to Miami Florida.

The Seminoles have yet to play in 2021 due to COVID postponements. They were 4-0 to open the season and are now 5-2. FSU recorded a 67-61 road win over NC State in the lone meeting last season.

NC State Stunned by Miami in Second Straight Loss

The NC State Wolfpack were 3-0 to open the season but have been inconsistent since. NC State earned two narrow wins against the Tar Heels and Boston College in their first two conference battles and have now lost two straight to even their ACC record to 2-2 on the year. They were 6.5 point favorites in a disappointing 64-59 home loss to Miami on Saturday. NC State has only covered in one out of their last six games.

Devon Daniels hasn’t been able to find his scoring touch recently. The senior guard is only 4 for 13 from beyond the arc in his last three games and is averaging 15.9 PPG on 45% shooting. DJ Funderbunk is playing well and has scored at least 20 points in two out of his last three clashes. The senior forward has filed an average of 13 PPG on a stellar 65% clip from the field. Jericole Hellems has only scored a combined 13 points in his last two games. The 6-foot-7 junior forward is averaging 11.2 PPG.

The Wolfpack are currently ranked 49th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings. NC State is dangerous in the offensive end and is scoring an average of 77.3 points, good for 87th overall. They are allowing an average of 65.7 points, landing them 77th in the country.

Seminoles Back in Action after Postponements

The Florida State Seminoles are finally back in action after their last two games against Duke and Pittsburgh were postponed due to COVID protocol. FSU has lost two out of their last three games overall and were 1.5 point dogs in a 77-67 road loss to Clemson in their latest action on December 29th. The Seminoles stand at 1-1 in ACC play with the lone win coming against Georgia Tech. They have not covered in three consecutive games.

MJ Walker is having an inconsistent season. The senior guard has the talent but has shot below 45% in all but two games this season. Walker leads the team with 15.3 PPG on a 40% clip from the field. Scottie Barnes has only tallied double-digits in points in one out of his last three performances. The freshman guard features an average of 11.1 PPG and 4.3 APG. Anthony Polite is having a great season. The junior guard is in a groove from three-point range where he owns a 51.9% efficiency and is averaging 10.9 PPG accompanied by 5.1 RPG.

The Seminoles are placed 31st overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and dropped out of the AP top 25 rankings this week as they have not played yet this month. Florida State is scoring an average of 75 points, placing them 125th in the country. They are limiting opponents to 68.4 points, landing them 149th overall.

Rating:

Florida State is slipping recently, losing two out of their last three games overall which included a defeat to UCF of the AAC. NC State is very competitive as they almost beat Clemson in a close OT loss and defeated the Tar Heels earlier in ACC play.

Furthermore, the Seminoles’ defense has been exploited recently. They have given up at least 77 points in two out of their last three bouts and NC State should take advantage considering they are sporting a stellar 47.3% team field goal efficiency. Florida State also hasn’t played since December 29th which is a long time to go in-between games. Take the points with NC State in this one.

Prediction: NC State Wolfpack +4

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

This should be a defensive battle. The Seminoles have not been able to find their shooting touch lately and their field goal percentage has dipped to 43.3% on the season. They also have issues at the free-throw long with a 69% clip. The under is 4-0 in the Seminoles’ last four Wednesday games.

In addition, the Seminoles’ greatest attribute is their defense, and are limiting teams to 39.5% shooting. NC State has only registered 70 and 59 points respectively in their last two games.  The under is 8-1 in the Wolfpack's last nine January games.

Prediction: Under

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Wolfpack should neutralize the Seminoles’ scoring. Florida State’s leading scorer MJ Walker isn’t playing well right now and is only shooting 40% on the season. Overall the Seminoles have not been threatening from an offensive standpoint recently. They were held to 67 points to Clemson and 69 points against Indiana and the Wolfpack should contain them as well.

Prediction: Florida State Team Total Under 74..5

Half-Time Side Pick

Rating:

I am staying with NC State on the first half-line. NC State is a strong first-half team. They rank 20th overall with an average of 39.8 points in the opening half which includes an average of 39 points on the road. The Wolfpack are also limiting teams to only 30 points in the first half.

Prediction: NC State
