The Buffalo Bulls will host the Ohio Bobcats in a MAC battle Tuesday night from the Alumni Arena. The Bobcats fell 83-78 to Bowling Green on Saturday, and the Bulls tallied an 83-78 road win against Miami Ohio on Friday night. The Bulls defeated the Bobcats in both meetings last season.

Ohio's Defense Stumbles in Second MAC Loss

The Ohio Bobcats head into this road clash a loser of three out of their last four games. The Bobcats are 1-2 in MAC play. They defeated Eastern Michigan earlier this week, followed by an 83-78 road loss to Bowling Green on Saturday. The Bobcats’ defense has not performed well recently.

Jason Preston hasn’t been quite as effective lately, connecting on less than 41% of his field goals in three out of his last four games. The sophomore guard is a terrific playmaker and is posting a team-leading 15.4 PPG along with 7.6 assists. Jordan Dartis is hot, accumulating over 20 points in two out of his last four games. The senior guard is currently averaging 14.9 points. Ben Vander Plas is a big threat and is coming off a 25 point effort in Saturday’s defeat. The sophomore forward has tallied four double-doubles and has increased his season average to 14.4 points on a 52% clip from the field.

The Bobcats are positioned 215th overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are carrying an even 2-2 mark on the road. Ohio is scoring an average of 71.6 points, ranking them 182nd in DI. They are allowing an average of 68.4 points, placing them 171st overall.

Buffalo Ends Two Game Skid with First Conference Victory

The Buffalo Bulls enter this one with confidence. They registered a much-needed 83-78 road win against Miami Ohio on Friday night to cover the one-point spread. The Bulls opened MAC play with losses to Northern Illinois and Ball State and are now 1-2 in their three conference games. Buffalo’s defense is an area that needs work.

Jayvon Graves came through with a big 25 point performance in Friday’s winning effort. The junior guard is very dangerous offensively and has now eclipsed 20 points six times on the year. Graves features an average of 17.2 PPG and 5.4 RPG. Davonta Jordan is having a terrific season. The senior guard is a complete player, filing an average of 12.9 points along with 5.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. Jeenathan Williams has scored at least 11 points in three straight games. The sophomore forward has lifted his season average to 10.9 points on 44% shooting.

The Bulls are placed 158th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and hold a 5-3 home record. Buffalo is thriving offensively and are averaging 79.6 points, ranking them 27th in the country. They are allowing an average of 76.9 points, positioning them down at 324th overall.

Insiders Status:

I am taking the points with Ohio in this clash. Buffalo has not been a reliable team and they have only tallied a win in one of their first three MAC games. Their defensive play has been terrible as they have squandered at least 78 points in three out of their last four games. This is key as Ohio is a threat from an offensive standpoint. They are shooting a solid 45.6% as a team and have scored 74 points in back-to-back games.

Furthermore, the Bobcats defense should be able to contain the Bulls. Ohio's defense is solid and they are limiting opponents to 42.1% shooting from the field.

Prediction: Ohio Bobcats

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

This contest should feature plenty of points. Buffalo likes to push the pace and the over is a common trend as a result. They are now averaging 77.5 possessions per game which is among the highest in DI. Buffalo has momentum after scoring 83 points in Friday’s win. The over is 6-1-1 in Buffalo’s last eight home games.

In addition, as touched on above, the Bulls defense is a glaring issue. Opponents are now shooting 45.1% against Buffalo this season and they are squandering an average of 76.9 points on the season. The over is 4-1 in the Bobcats’ last five games and that trend should prevail again in this one.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The over on the Ohio team total available on PointsBet is a recommended option. Buffalo allowed 88 points to Ball State and 78 points to Miami Ohio in their last two games. Also, Ohio is a threat from beyond the arc where they are shooting 35.7%, and Buffalo ranks 233rd in DI in three-point defense this season.

Prediction: Ohio Team Total Over

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

I am staying with the over on the halftime total. Buffalo just surrendered 43 points in the first half in Friday’s win, and they have now allowed an average of 44 points in the first half in their last three games. Also, the Bobcats will give up points, conceding an average of 33.2 points in the first half, placing them 201st overall.

Prediction: Over
