Toreros Ground The Pilots On The Road
The San Diego Toreros are off to a solid 13-6 record overall, including a 2-2 mark in league play. They began league play with a loss, but have since won two of their last three games to get back to .500 in league play. San Diego is ranked 95th in the nation by KenPom and they have played the 190th ranked schedule. They enter this game off an easy 76-55 road win over the Portland Pilots and their defense was exceptional in the game. The Toreros allowed the Pilots to connect on just 30.9% of their shots from the floor overall, including 25% (6/24) from long range. They will need to have that defense show up in this one as the Gaels have a solid offense. USD had a good offensive showing against the Pilots as they hit 47.3% of their shots overall, including 38.1% (8/21) from long range. Their task on offense will be a bit tougher as the Gaels are a strong defensive team. Leading their attack was Jose Martinez (2.9 ppg), who had 15, while Isaiah Pineiro (19.7 ppg) had 14 points and grabbed 12 boards.

On defense, they are 90th in points allowed, giving up 67.7 ppg, while also ranking 167th in defensive FG% (43.3%) and 53rd in three-point defense (30.9%).
Gaels Are Looking For Their 4th Win In A Row
The St Mary’s Gaels are normally one of the best mid0-majors in the nation and while they are just 12-7 on the year, the Gaels are still a dangerous tea,m. They are also starting to play really well as they have won their last three games after taking down Santa Clara at home by a score of 75-55. KenPom has them rated at 38th in the nation and they have played the 144th rated schedule. The Gaels have been led by their defense this year, which his nothing new for this team. that defense played great against the Broncos as the Gaels allowed them to hit just 40.9% of their shots overall, including 16.7% (2/12) from long range. The Gaels allowed 76 points in their first WCC game this year, but have allowed just 60.3 ppg in their last three games. St Mary’s shot 46.8% from the field overall against the Broncos, including 39.1% (9/23) from long range, but they did commit 18 turnovers in the contest. That didn’t cost them though. Their offense will be tested against a good San Diego defense in this one. Leading their attack was Jordan Ford (22.3 ppg), who had 18, while Malik Fitts (14.5 ppg) was 2nd with 10.

St Mary’s Is:
- 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
- The Under is 43-19-1 in their last 63 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600
San Diego is:
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win.
- 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Gaels are a tough team to beat at home and they have been playing very well of late. they just blasted Santa Clara at home and their defense is playing well, which is nothing new for this team. San Diego has played well overall this year and against the Gaels in recent years, but I do not see them hanging in this one. Look for St Mary’s to win this one by at least 13 points.
Prediction: St Mary’s -10.5
Full-Game Total Pick
I love the Under in this one. I know I chose the Gaels to cover the spread, but we will also get the Under as well. The Gales just allowed 55 points at home to Santa Clara and they should have another good showing against a San Diego team that can be inconsistent on offense. The Toreros have played good defense this year and they will keep the Gaels from going crazy on the scoreboard. The Under is 5-1 in Toreros last 6 vs. a team with a winning straight up record and 50-23-1 in Gaels last 74 games following an ATS win, plus 5-1 ASTS the last six games between these teams here at St Mary’s. &1-59 St Mary’s sounds about right.
Prediction: Under 138
