The Boston College Eagles will continue their search for their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season on Sunday when they welcome the visiting Florida State Seminoles. After winning seven straight games, the Seminoles have slipped to 1-3 in their last four outings, including back-to-back losses to Pittsburgh and Duke. Meanwhile, the Eagles are coming off their fifth consecutive loss after Wednesday night’s letdown performance against Louisville.
Florida State stunned by Pittsburgh
The Seminoles woke up on Tuesday morning still ranked top-25, but they probably didn’t feel like one of the best teams in the country after an embarrassing shooting night against Pittsburgh. They finished the game with 34.5 percent shooting from the floor and a shockingly bad 9.1 percent from 3-pointer in a 75-62 loss.
Forward Phil Cofer and guard PJ Savoy split one 3-pointer apiece for the team’s only long-distance shots in 22 attempts.
Junior guard Trent Forrest was the only player for the Seminoles that scored in double figures with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. However, most of his points came from the 11-of-12 free throws he sunk at the line. He went 4-of-13 from the field and 0-1 from 3-pointer in his 34 minutes on the floor.
Senior guard Terance Mann could only muster a contribution of nine points and five rebounds.
Boston College loses fifth straight
The Eagles had no answer for Justin Nwora in their 80-70 loss to Louisville on Wednesday night. It was a dominant performance for the senior on both ends of the court against a hapless Eagles team. The loss marked the fifth consecutive time the Eagles have been defeated, and they are the lone team in the Atlantic Coast Conference that still lack a conference win.
Nwora dropped 32 points on them, including 10 rebounds, four assists and five 3-pointers. The Eagles shot 45.0 percent from the floor and 30.4 percent from 3-pointer.
Senior guard Jordan Chatman finished the game with a team-high 21 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Nik Popovic and Ky Bowman both scored 14 points. Bowman added 13 rebounds and seven assists to complete a double-double.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Eagles have struggled so far in conference play, and I believe those struggles will continue against the Seminoles on Sunday. Some have been quick to point out the offensive issues for the Seminoles so far this season, particularly when they have been matched against respectable defenses.
However, they’ll have the luxury of facing an Eagles team that is averaging 74.1 points per game, which has actually dipped to only 64 points in their last three games against conference opponents. They won’t have the offense to put any pressure on the Seminoles to score a lot of points.
While the Seminoles aren’t necessarily a great team offensively, they have the 55th-ranked team in the country in defensive efficiency. The same can’t be said about Boston College, and that’ll be one of the reasons they fall flat and lose their sixth consecutive game.
Prediction: Florida State Seminoles (-6)
Full-Game Total Pick
The under is 4-0 in the Seminoles’ last four games after a straight up loss and 5-2 in their last seven against teams with a winning straight up record. Another low scoring output by Boston College seems likely going against an underrated defensive team in Florida State. They also haven’t shot the ball well recently, which will play into the under winning out the bet here. In the Eagles’ last three games, they are shooting the ball at only 41.2 percent. Not to mention Florida State lacks a juggernaut offense to carry the line over 146 points.
Prediction: Under (146)
