Kent State Upset by Northern Illinois

The Kent State Golden Flashes are looking to snap a three-game losing streak in this one. They started conference play with a 3-0 record and have fallen to 3-3. Kent State was a nine-point favorite in a surprising 66-57 home loss to Northern Illinois on Tuesday night. Their offense has been stumbling recently.

Antonio Williams wasn’t at his best in Tuesday’s defeat, sinking 13 points on a 4 for 10 mark from the field. Overall, the senior guard is having a productive season and is averaging 14.1 PPG on 51% shooting. Danny Pippen is attempting several three’s and is 6 for 19 from deep in his last three games. The junior forward is also amassing several rebounds and enters this one averaging 13.6 PPG and 6.7 RPG. Troy Simons has struggled with his shot in his last few games. The senior guard has scored at least 12 points in four out of his last five games and owns an average of 12.7 PPG on a 41% efficiency from the field.

The Golden Flashes are currently positioned 117th overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and hold a 3-4 record on the road. Kent State is scoring an average of 78.5 points on the season, ranking them 31st in the country. They are allowing an average of 69.1 points, placing them 185th overall.

Buffalo's Powerhouse Offense Key in Four-Game Winning Streak

The red-hot Buffalo Bulls continue to climb the MAC standings. They enter this one riding a four-game winning streak including a 90-79 home win against Western Michigan on Tuesday to cover the 10 point spread. Buffalo is now 4-2 in MAC play and continues to shine offensively.

Jayvon Graves is playing well and has now reached 20 points in two out of his last four games. which included a 23 effort on Tuesday night. The junior guard is the Bulls go-to guy offensively and he has increased his season average to 16.6 PPG and 4.9 RPG. Davonte Jordan only scored three points in Tuesday’s winning effort. Overall, the senior guard is a complete player and holds an average of 12.3 points along with 5.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. Antwain Johnson is hot, scoring at least 18 points in two out of his last three games. The senior guard is now posting 10.8 PPG.

The Bulls are currently ranked 147th in all of DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings, and stand at 7-3 at home. Buffalo is consistently piling on the points and have lifted their season average to 80.3 points, good for 19th in the country. Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I am selecting Buffalo in this one. Buffalo continues to dominate in the offensive end which has led to a four-game winning streak. They have won by at least 11 points in two straight games and they have scored over 80 points in three out of their last four games. Kent State is slumping, losing three games in a row and they have squandered an average of 73.3 points in that span.

Furthermore, Kent State has also cooled down from an offensive standpoint which is going to make covering the points a very challenging task. They have only scored 63 and 69 points respectively in their last two games.

Prediction: Buffalo Bulls

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

This contest should feature plenty of scoring. As mentioned Buffalo is locked in offensively and they should continue their scoring barrage against a Golden Flashes team that continues to give up three’s. They rank 244th in three-point defense and the Bulls are shooting a solid 33.3% from deep. The over is 10-4-1 in the Bulls’ last 15 games overall.

In addition, Kent State will score their fair share of points. While they have not fared well recently, Buffalo plays at a quicker pace which results in plenty of possessions for both teams. Kent State is shooting a solid 45.8% as a team, plus the over is 8-3 in the Golden Flashes’ last 11 games overall.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

Buffalo should post another remarkable offensive performance and a play on their team total is a good prop. Buffalo scored 86 points against Central Michigan followed by 90 points against Western Michigan in their last two games. I expect another big output considering Kent State just surrendered 76 points to one of the lowest-scoring teams in the MAC in their latest game.

Prediction: Buffalo Team Total Over

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

I expect Buffalo to have a solid lead at the half on their home floor. Kent State has especially struggled in the first half where they only posted only 26.3 points in their last three games. Also, the Bulls have averaged a terrific 35.7 points in the first half in their last three games.

Prediction: Buffalo
