Eastern Michigan Loses Again, Seeking First MAC Win

The Eastern Michigan Eagles continue to come up short and are still looking for their first MAC win. They have been involved in several very close games but cannot finish the deal and find themselves in the basement of the MAC with an 0-6 mark. The Eagles just cannot break out offensively which continues in a 62-59 road loss to Bowling Green on Tuesday night.

Ty Groce is still having trouble, registering seven or fewer points in three out of his last four games. The junior forward was productive in non-conference play but has been a different story since and he is now averaging 11.3 PPG and 5.5 RPG. Noah Morgan continues to excel, netting at least 16 points in three out of his last four games. The junior guard scored 23 points in Saturday’s loss to Ohio, and he has increased his average to 11.4 points on 41% shooting. Boubacar Toure has only scored a total of 13 points in his last two clashes. The 7-foot center does feature a stellar 65% clip from the field, and he owns an average of 9.7 PPG.

The Eagles are placed down at 217th in all of DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are 2-6 on the road. Eastern Michigan is only averaging 65 points on the season, ranking them 318th overall. They are allowing an average of 62.8 points, good for 42nd in the country.

Miami Ohios' Defensive Woes Continue

The Miami Ohio Redhawks are struggling, losing five out of their last six games overall to drop to 1-5 in MAC play. The Redhawks defense is especially having issues that were evident in their ugly 80-60 home loss to Akron on Tuesday night in a clash that Miami Ohio labeled as five-point dogs.

Nike Sibande only scored six points in Tuesday’s rough loss. The junior guard is having a terrific season overall and he has earned two double-doubles in his last three games. Sibande is sporting an average of 14.1 PPG and 5.9 RPG. Dalonte Brown’s slump continues. The junior forward has only managed a combined 17 points in his last three tilts, and his season average has dipped to 12.4 PPG and he is shooting 45%. Dae Dae Grant has been the Redhawks’ most consistent player recently and has scored at least 11 points in seven straight games. The freshman guard is now logging 9.3 PPG.

The Redhawks are ranked down at 232nd in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and hold a 6-4 record at home. Miami Ohio is scoring an average of 74.7 points, ranking them 101st overall. They are squandering an average of 73.1 points, pegging them 274th in DI.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I am selecting Miami Oho in this MAC clash. The Redhawks should be able to rebound on their home floor against an Eastern Michigan team that has lost six straight and is still winless in MAC play. The Eagles just don’t have the talent to score enough points to win games. They have scored 59 or fewer points in three straight games.

Furthermore, Miami Ohio is the much strong team offensively and while they also have not played well, they have still managed to score at least 76 points in four of their six MAC games on the season. The Eagles' inability to score will lead to another rough loss.

Prediction: Miami Ohio Redhawks

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The under is the play when looking at the total. The offensive performance on both teams has been an issue. Eastern Michigan has not been able to crack 70 points in MAC play yet this season, and stand at the bottom of the country in most offensive categories which includes an abysmal 41.3% team field goal percentage. The under is 4-0 in their last four games against a team with a winning record.

In addition, Eastern Michigan can play defense and they have been able to contain their MAC foes this season. The Eagles have allowed 69 or fewer points in three straight games, and the under is 37-14 in their last 51 games following an ATS win.

Prediction: Under

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The under on the Eastern Michigan team total is an attractive prop. The Eagles offense is abysmal. They have shot 41% or lower from the field in three out of their last four games overall. They only have two players averaging double-digits in points and were just limited to 58 points by Bowling Green in their previous game.

Prediction: Eastern Michigan Team Total Under

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

I am sticking with the under on the halftime total. The Eagles continue to struggle to do much of anything in the first half offensively. They have only posted an average of 23 points in the opening half in their last three games. Also, Eastern Michigan is limiting opponents to only 26.7 points in the first half in their last three games, and this should translate to a very low scoring opening half.

Prediction: Under
