The West Virginia Mountaineers and Texas Tech Red Raiders will take the court on Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. ET. TTU is a 3.5-point spread favorite, and the game total is 142.5 points.

The Mountaineers, 11-8 SU and 9-10 ATS, were defeated by Texas in their last game. They are 1-4 on the road this season. The Red Raiders, 10-9 SU and 6-12-1 ATS, lost to Kansas State on Sunday. They have lost seven straight games.

Texas Tech won both games versus West Virginia last season. The Mountaineers hold a 16-8 advantage in the all-time series.

The Mountaineers are better than their record suggests

The Mountaineers are 1-6 in Big 12 play and have lost six of their past seven. They were picked to finish ninth in the conference's preseason poll.

West Virginia scores 77.0 points on 46.5 percent shooting, including 35.3 percent from three. It converts 69.9 percent of its free throw attempts and averages 31.5 rebounds with a +2.9 rebounding margin. The Mountaineers are 28th nationally in schedule-adjusted offensive efficiency, per KenPom.

West Virginia surrenders 69.2 points on 43.9 percent shooting, including 33.3 percent from deep. It's 43rd in defensive efficiency and 115th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.07).

Is Texas Tech capable of going on a run?

Texas Tech is working on climbing out of the Big 12 basement. The Red Raiders have lost all seven of their Big 12 games.

In its latest game, Texas Tech shot 23-for-71 from the field (32.4%) and 7-for-29 from three (24.1%). The Red Raiders won the rebounding battle but couldn't keep the game close in the second half. Kansas State outscored Texas Tech 40-25 after halftime.

The Red Raiders score 75.2 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting, including 34.4 percent from long range. They convert 70.1 percent of their free throws and average 32.7 rebounds with a +3.9 rebounding margin. Texas Tech is 86th nationally in schedule-adjusted offensive efficiency, per KenPom.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

The Red Raiders are 2-13-1 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a winning straight-up record.

I'll bet on the Mountaineers in this Big 12 matchup. I expect coach Bob Huggins, "Huggy Bear", in this spot with WVU in need of a win. The seasoned coach leads a Mountaineers team top-75 in PPG and FG%, with a +2.9 rebounding margin.

They'll at least cover the spread against an underachieving Red Raiders squad.

Prediction: Mountaineers +3.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The over is 6-0 in the Red Raiders' last six home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 22-4 in the Mountaineers' last 26 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The over is also 8-1 in the Red Raiders' last nine home games and 25-5 in the Mountaineers' last 30 road games.

I'll take the over in what will be a competitive, exciting conference matchup.

Prediction: Over 142.5
