Northern Arizona will look to add to its three-game winning streak when it hosts Sacramento State on Monday night. The Hornets are 11-6 and are coming off a win against Portland State on Thursday. Northern Arizona notched a victory against Portland State on Saturday to improve to 10-7 on the season. The Lumberjacks lost to Sacramento State in the first meeting this season.
Hornets looking for back-to-back winsSacramento State snapped a two-game losing skid with its win on Thursday night. The Hornets had lost games to Northern Colorado and Southern Utah heading into that contest. Prior to those losses, they had strung together wins against Idaho State, Northern Arizona, and Weber State. Sacramento State jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead against Northern Arizona when the two teams met for the first time earlier this season. The Hornets held off a furious rally in the second half to secure the win.

Senior center Joshua Patton leads Sacramento State with 14.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. He is notching a team-high in both statistical categories, along with blocking 2.4 shots per contest. Junior forward Ethan Esposito is the only other player in double figures, scoring 10.2 points per game and grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game. Junior wing Bryce Fowler is scoring 8.7 points per game and is dishing out a team-high 3.0 assists per outing. Senior guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Le’Afa is adding 8.3 points per game. He is the team’s only serious threat from beyond the arc, knocking down 25 of 79 attempts from long range.
Lumberjacks looking to continue winning streakNorthern Arizona has now rattled off three wins in a row after losing back-to-back games against Sacramento State and Idaho State. The Lumberjacks have defeated Southern Utah, Northern Colorado, and Portland State. All three victories have come in a narrow fashion, as they won by a combined 11 points. Portland State jumped out to a 45-37 halftime lead in Saturday’s game, but Northern Arizona scored five of its final seven points from the free-throw line to seal the deal in the final two minutes. Portland State missed a contested layup that would have tied the game as time expired.
The Lumberjacks are led by sophomore guard Cameron Shelton, who is scoring 13.1 points per game and is grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game. Shelton is also the team’s leading distributor, dishing out 4.0 assists per contest. Senior forward Brooks DeBisschop is scoring 10.9 points per game and is the leading rebounder with 7.7 boards per outing. Senior guard Ted McCree is also in double figures, adding 10.2 points per game. Sophomore guard Luke Avdalovic is the leading 3-point shooter, connecting on 31 of 63 attempts from beyond the arc.
