Texas State scored 103 points in its first game, but the team’s offense hasn’t played as well since, averaging 73 points per game. The offense will face its toughest test of the young season against a Baylor defense that is holding opponents to 64 points per game.
Nijal Pearson led the way for the Bobcats in their win over PV, finishing with 23 points and five rebounds. DeShawn Davidson finished with 11 points and two assists, while Marlin Davis added nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals for the Bobcats.
Texas State is a mixed bag on the defensive end. The team played well against PV and Texas Lutheran, holding both teams under 50 points. However, Air Force dropped 78 points in their win over the Bobcats. They will need to play as they did against the Panthers and Bulldogs if they want to win this game.
Bears Going For Second Win In Three GamesThe Bears were upset by the Washington Huskies in their last game, giving them their first loss of the season. They will be trying to bounce back from the loss and pick up their second win in their last three games when they face the Bobcats on Friday.
Baylor has done a good job offensively, averaging 84.5 points per game. The team is shooting 46 percent from the field and 48 percent from three-point range, but they struggled from the floor in their loss to the Huskies, making only 35 percent of their shots.
Jared Butler led the way for the Bears with 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Freddie Gillespie added 11 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and four steals, while Devonte Bandoo added nine points, three rebounds, and three assists for the Bears.
Defensively, Baylor has played well this season, holding opponents to 64 points per game. They gave up 67 points against the Huskies and will need a similar performance to get past the Bobcats on Friday.
