Little Rock Trojans (4-2) vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-2)

The Little Rock Trojans will be looking to get back into the win column when they take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday. Little Rock snapped a two-game losing streak with a 67-60 victory over Northern Illinois on Monday. That moved the team to 3-5 ATS in their last eight games. Tulsa was beaten by Utah, 72-58, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Golden Hurricane are 3-6 ATS in their last nine.

Tulsa enters as a 12.5-point favorite. The Golden Hurricane won the most recent contest between these teams, defeating the Trojans 88-78 back in November 2018. These teams have split the last 10 meetings.

Trojans Hold off Huskies to Earn Victory

Little Rock took a 34-18 point lead into the half, then held off Northern Illinois for a 67-60 victory. The Trojans defense was outstanding in the first half, holding the Huskies to 23.1% shooting from the field. Meanwhile, the Trojans shot 43.3% in the first half and finished at 40.0%. DeAntoni Gordon came a rebound short of a double-double, recording 16 points and nine rebounds.

Little Rock is averaging 77.3 points per game, 105th in the country, and they are allowing 66.0 points per contest, 134th overall. This is not a very good shooting team, 146th in the nation at 45.3%, including hitting only 32.4% of their shots from three-point range, 209th in the country. They are 70th in free throws per game at 15.0, but are only hitting 70.9% of their attempts. The Trojans are 31st in steals per game at 10.0.

Little Rock is led in scoring by Isaiah Palermo, who is averaging 13.2 points per game. He is shooting 69.7% from the field and has hit all five of his three-point attempts. The leading rebounder is Nikola Maric at 6.5 per game and he is second at 12.8 points per contest.

Utes Too Much for Golden Hurricane

Utah shot 44% from the field and outrebounded Tulsa 45-29 in a 72-58 victory over the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa shot 40% from the field overall, but hit just four of 16 three-point attempts and went to the free-throw line just eight times. Sam Griffin led the team in scoring with 18 points.

Tulsa is averaging 67.8 points per game, 254th overall, and they are allowing 67.0 points per game, 152nd in the nation. This is an even worse shooting team, hitting 42.4% of their shots, 245th overall, and they are hitting 33.0% of three-point attempts, 194th overall. However, the Golden Hurricane have been great from the free-throw line, hitting 83.1% of their attempts, eighth in the nation. Unfortunately, they are only reaching the line 11.8 times per game on average.

The Golden Hurricane are led in scoring by Griffin at 18.0 points per game. The leading rebounder is Jeriah Horne, who is averaging 7.4 per game and is second in scoring at 17.4 points per contest.

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

In each of the last three victories for Tulsa, they have won by less than 10 points. This is not a team that dominates opponents. They win games, but they are not a good shooting team, so they struggle and battle for every basket, and that helps to keep this contest a lot closer for the Trojans.

Statistically, these teams are very closely matched, especially shooting. Neither team has been very good in the trends of late. I simply do not have confidence that Tulsa will cover the spread.

Prediction: Little Rock Trojans at +12.5 (-110)

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Because of the poor performance of these teams and shooting, the under seems like the smart pick here. Defensively, they are allowing 133 points per game combined, just under the total, and I look for this to be more of a defensive struggle.

Little Rock is averaging 63 points per game over their last three contests. Tulsa is averaging 64.5 over their last four games. I look for these numbers to be a little more realistic about what each team produces in this contest. Look for the total to be somewhere around 130.

Prediction: Under 134.0 (-110)
