Pennsylvania Quakers vs. Rice Owls

Where: Tudor Fieldhouse, Houston, TX

When: Saturday, November 9, 4:30 PM. ET.

The Rice Owls will be trying to bounce back from their season-opening loss to Arkansas with a win over the Pennsylvania Quakers on Saturday afternoon.

Quakers Going For Third Consecutive Win Over Owls

The Quakers and Owls have only played each other three times, but the Quakers have won the last two meetings in the series. They will try to make it three consecutive wins over the Owls and two straight wins to start the season when they play on Saturday afternoon.

Penn looked good offensively in its first game, scoring 81 points in the win. The team shot 42.6 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from three-point range as they picked up their first road win over an SEC team.

Jordan Dingle led the way for the Quakers with 24 points and seven rebounds. A.J. Brodeur finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, while Ryan Betley added 12 points and six rebounds.

The Quakers didn’t play well on the defensive end, giving up 80 points in the win. They will be facing a less talented offensive team on Saturday but will need to play better than they did against Alabama to avoid giving the Owls a chance to win this game.

Owls Trying To Get Going Offensively

The Owls had a rough offensive outing in their loss to Arkansas, finishing the game with 43 points. The team will have a hard time winning games when they cannot score more than 50 points and will need to turn things around quickly if they don’t want to start the season with two consecutive losses.

Rice shot 28.6 percent from the field and eight percent from three-point range against the Razorbacks. Some of their poor offensive display was caused by the Razorbacks, who did a great job defending, especially on the perimeter.

Ako Adams was the only Rice player to score double-digit points, finishing the game with 13 points. Trey Murphy III had seven points and two rebounds, while Quincy Olivari added six points and two rebounds off the bench.

Rice’s defense also wasn’t very good in their first game, with the team giving up 110 points in the loss. They will face a tough challenge against the Quakers, who scored 81 points in their last game, and will have to play significantly better defense to put themselves in a position to win this game.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

The Quakers are the pick here because the Owls have struggled against the spread when facing Ivy League teams, losing six of their last seven games. The Owls also struggle defensively, giving up 91 points in their loss to Arkansas and will have trouble stopping the Quakers, who scored 81 points in their last game. On the other hand, the Quakers won’t have any problems against the Owls, especially on the defensive end, with Rice scoring only 43 points in their last game. If the Owls don’t do a better job on offense, this will end up being another ugly loss for the team.

Prediction: Pennsylvania Quakers

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The Quakers are averaging 81 points per game and will have no trouble going over 90 points against the Owls, who gave up 91 points in their last game. The Owls will keep the score under the total because they are not very good on offense and will struggle to go over 50 points in this game, after a 43 point performance in their season-opening loss.

Prediction: Under

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

The Quakers will cover the first-half spread in this game because they outplayed the Owls in the first half of their last game, averaging 35 points per game while the Owls average 19 points per game.

Prediction: Pennsylvania Quakers

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

The Owls and Quakers are averaging 54 combined points per game in the first half so far and will stay under the first-half total in this game if they maintain their current scoring pace.

Prediction: Under
