The Arkansas Little Rock Trojans will host the Tennessee State Tigers in non-conference play Tuesday evening from the Jack Stephens Center. The Tigers posted an 80-74 home win against Chicago State in their latest game, and the Trojans were crushed 76-53 at North Texas in their previous tilt. Little Rock logged an 83-67 win against Tennessee State last season.

Tennessee State Targets Fourth Straight Victory

The Tennessee State Tigers are targeting their fourth straight win in this one. They opened the winning streak with wins against Cal Poly and North Florida, and their latest was an 80-74 home win against Chicago State on Friday in a game that had the Tigers as 21 point favorites. The Tigers' offensive production has been their greatest strength.

Wesley Harris posted a season-best 27 points in Friday’s victory. The senior guard features a sharp 49% field goal efficiency and he has increased his season average to 11.4 PPG along with 5.4 RPG. Carlos Marshall Jr. is playing well, recording a combined 24 points in his last two games. The sophomore guard has shot below 45% in four out of his last five games, and he is averaging 11 points on 42.5% shooting. Michael Littlejohn has surpassed 20 points twice this season but only scored five points in Friday’s win. The senior guard is currently averaging 10.7 points.

Tennessee State is placed at 263rd the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings, and they have yet to win on the road where they hold an 0-3 record. Tennessee State is averaging a solid 76.7 points, ranking them 91st in the country. They are allowing an average of 69 points, positioning them 180th overall.

Little Rock Charged with Second Straight Loss

The Arkansas Little Rock Trojans will attempt to avoid their third straight defeat in this one. They fell to East Tennessee State followed by a rough 76-53 road loss against North Texas on Saturday in a tilt that had the Trojans labeled as 5.5 point dogs.

Look out for Markquis Nowell in this clash. The sophomore guard has reached 20 points in three out of his last four games overall, and he is averaging a remarkable 19.3 points on 46% shooting on the season. Nowell wasn’t at his best in Saturday’s defeat, netting only 10 points. Ben Coupet Jr. is also a threat. The junior guard features a dazzling 44% efficiency from beyond the arc, and he is logging 12.7 PPG along with 6.3 RPG. Kris Bankston has not played in over three weeks due to a back injury. The junior forward was playing well prior to his injury with an average of 9.7 points. Bankston is questionable for this one.

The Trojans are currently placed 175th overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings, and they own a 3-1 record on their home court. Little Rock is only averaging 65.6 points on the season, ranking them down at 293rd in the country. The Trojans are a strong defensive team that is holding opponents to 64.7 points, good for 107th in DI.

Best Bets for this Game

Insiders Status:

I am siding with Little Rock in this one. Little Rock has experienced a tough schedule and they feature great defensive stats considering the difficult opponents. They are limiting opponents to 40.4% shooting on the season, and have allowed 67 or fewer points in three out of their last four games, so I expect them to neutralize Tennessee State.

Furthermore, Tennessee State has enjoyed an easier schedule which has made some of their stats look better. The Tigers will give up points. They have conceded 73 and 74 points respectively in their last two games against North Florida and Chicago State, so I expect the Trojans to break out offensively on their home court.

Prediction: Little Rock Trojans

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The over is a solid option in this one. The Trojans should be able to post one of their better offensive performances of the season in this one. Tennessee State just allowed 74 points to a Chicago State team that is only shooting 43% on the season. Little Rock does feature some offensive talent and this is a team they should be able to exploit

In addition, Tennessee State is locked in from an offensive standpoint, netting at least 80 points in three straight games and they are shooting a stellar 49% as a team this season. The over is 11-4 in Tennessee State’s last 15 road games.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The over on the Little Rock team total offered on PointsBet is a solid option. Markquis Nowell is a key to this game. Nowell has collected over 20 points in three out of his last four games overall, and the Trojans’ top four scorers are all shooting at least 45% on the season and I expect them to have an efficient night on their home court.

Prediction: Little Rock Team Total Over

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

I am opting for the under on the first half total. Little Rock does not score many points in the first half. They rank 320th in DI with an average of only  27.3 points in the first half. They have limited their opponents to an average of only 29 points in the first half on their home court this season.

Prediction: Under
