The Dayton Flyers will host the North Texas Mean Green in non-conference play Tuesday night from the University of Dayton Arena. The Mean Green tallied a 73-65 home win over Little Rock in their previous contest, and the Flyers topped Drake by a 78-47 score on Saturday.

North Texas Earns Second Win in Last Three Games

The North Texas Mean Green enter this tough matchup with confidence. They crushed Little Rock last time out by a 76-53 score in a tilt that had North Texas favored by 5.5 points. The Mean Green have now won two out of their last three games with the lone loss in that span occurring against Oklahoma.

Look out for Umoja Gibson who is red-hot, netting at least 19 points in five out of his last six games. The sophomore guard even scored 21 points in the loss to Oklahoma, and he has lifted his average to 15.8 PPG on 46.2% shooting. Javion Hamlet has shot below 34% in four out of his last five games. The junior guard has scored a combined 20 points in his last three games and is now posting 8.7 PPG. Deng Geu only scored five points in the win against Little Rock. The senior forward owns solid numbers, averaging 8.6 points on a 53% clip from the field accompanied with 6.6 rebounds.

The Mean Green are currently placed 133rd in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are 1-2 on the road which included aloss to VCU. North Texas is having trouble offensively, averaging only 64.8 points, ranking them 308th overall. They are holding opponents to 61 points, good for 38th in DI.

#13 Dayton Registers Three Straight Dominant Wins

The Dayton Flyers continue to dominate. They have won three straight games all by double-digits in points which included an easy 78-47 home win against Drake on Saturday to cover the 15.5 point spread. Dayton’s lone defeat of the season came against a ranked Kansas team and they have also defeated Saint Mary’s.

Obi Toppin continues to shine, logging at least a 53% clip from the field in each game this season which included 19 points in Saturday’s victory. The sophomore forward has eclipsed 20 points five times this season, and he is sporting an average of 21.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Jalen Crutcher scored 21 points in a win against Saint Mary’s last week. The junior guard is a big threat from three-point range where he is shooting 38% on the year, and he is averaging 12.1 PPG. Ryan Mikesell has cooled off recently, netting less than 10 points in three straight games. The senior forward is having a solid season, posting 10.3 PPG on 53% shooting.

The Flyers are currently ranked #13th in the AP Top 25, and Ken Pomeroy has them at 14th in his ratings. They feature a perfect 5-0 home record. Dayton is an offensive powerhouse and they are averaging a sizzling 86.3 points, good for third in the country. They are allowing an average of 67.3 points, placing them 154th in DI.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I expect another convincing victory from Dayton. The Flyers continue to demolish their opposition. Six of their eight wins on the season have occurred by at least 19 points which is quite the accomplishment and displays how dangerous this team is. Dayton leads all of Division I with a dazzling 54% field goal percentage and nobody has been able to shut them down.

Furthermore, North Texas has only won two out of their last five games and they are not going to be able to keep up with this Flyers team. North Texas only has one player averaging double-digits in points and they are shooting a mediocre 44.3% as a team.

Prediction: Dayton Flyers

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

I expect a high scoring game. The over has been a reoccurring theme for the Flyers due to their tremendous offense. They have scored at least 80 points in six of their eight games on the season and the over is 4-1 in the Flyers' last five games overall.

In addition, while I expect Dayton to contain North Texas, the Flyers will give up points due to their playing style. They are having trouble defending the three, as opponents are shooting 36.3% from deep against them which ranks Dayton 311th in the country. North Texas has offensive momentum after scoring at least 76 points in three straight games, and the over is 3-0-1 in their last four games.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

I recommend a play on Daytonโ€™s team total which is offered on PointsBet. The Flyers are shooting a sparking 40% from three-point territory and they will toss up a ton of threeโ€™s. Four of Daytonโ€™s top five scorers are shooting at least 38 % from three-point range. Moreover, Dayton is piling on the points at home, scoring at least 90 points in three out of their last four home games.

Prediction: Dayton Team Total Over

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

I expect a big lead at the half. Dayton usually starts strong as they lead all of DI with an average of 42.8 points in the first half this season. North Texas has been one of the lower scoring teams in DI in the first half where they are only averaging 29.9 points on the season.

Prediction: Dayton
