The Loyola Chicago Ramblers will head on the road to battle the Ball State Cardinals in non-conference play Tuesday night from the Worthen Arena. The Ramblers tallied a 68-61 victory against Old Dominion in their previous clash, and the Cardinals dropped a 69-62 home decision to Western Illinois in their latest action. Ball State recorded a 74-69 road win against Loyola Chicago last season.

Ramblers End Two Game Skid with Win vs. Old Dominion

The Loyola Chicago Ramblers are targeting their second straight win. They rebounded from two straight losses by recording a 68-61 win against Old Dominion in their latest game in a matchup that had the Ramblers tagged as four-point favorites on Wednesday night. Cameron Krutwig is the leader on this team. The 6-foot-9 junior center will contribute in all areas, averaging 16.9 points on a sizzling 65% efficiency from the field and he is posting 6.8 rebounds per game. Krutwig scored 22 points in the win against Old Dominion.

Tate Hall is red-hot, netting over 20 points in two straight games. The junior guard has now eclipsed 20 points three times, and he is logging an average of 14.4 PPG on 49% shooting. Lucas Williamson has cooled off, going three straight games below 10 points. Overall, the junior guard is playing well, recording 10.6 PPG on 47% shooting. Loyola Chicago has been inconsistent with a few surprising losses which involved a 76-72 defeat to Coppin State.

The Ramblers are currently positioned at 116th overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and lost their lone road game against Furman. They are scoring an average of 71.2 points, ranking them 204th in the country. Loyola Chicago is conceding an average of 66.1 points, placing them 135th overall.

Ball State Stunned by Western Illinois

The Ball State Cardinals enter this one having lost two out of their last three games. They were 14.5 point favorites in their latest game against Western Illinois and fell 69-62 and they also lost 59-57 to Northern Kentucky on November 20th.

Tahjai Teague is a talented player that will take several shots per game. The senior forward has shot at least 55% in three out of his last four games and is currently logging 15 PPG along with 8.6 RPG. Teague has three double-doubles. Ishmael El-Amin is playing well, compiling a 52% efficiency from the field on an average of 13.9 points. The junior guard is locked in from deep, sporting a 46% clip from beyond the arc. Kyle Mallers is also a threat from three-point range with 10 three’s in his last two games, and the senior forward is posting 13.3 PPG on the year.

The Cardinals are currently ranked 121st in the nation in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are 2-2 on their home court. Ball State is scoring an average of 73.9 points, ranking them 146th overall. They are playing solid defense and are holding opponents to 60.3 points, good for 38th in DI.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I am siding with Loyola Chicago in this matchup. Ball State just lost 69-62 at home to Western Illinois in a game that had the Cardinals labeled as 14.5 point favorites. Their offense has been an issue as they have scored 69 or fewer points in four out of their last five games. The Cardinals have also lost to Evansville and Northern Kentucky this season.

Furthermore, Loyola Chicago is tough to defend. They feature a dazzling 52.5% field goal percentage which ranks them fourth in the country, and I do not see Ball State neutralizing the Ramblers.

Prediction: Loyola Chicago

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

I recommend the over when looking at the total. Loyola Chicago features several players that are in a groove. All six of their top scorers feature a field goal percentage of at least 47%, and their success should translate to points. The over is also 6-2 in their last eight games overall.

In addition, Ball State should have a decent night in the offensive end against a Ramblers team that has yet to find their defensive identity. They are giving up a ton of three’s with a three-point defense that ranks 328th in the country. The over has cashed in five of the Cardinals’ last seven games against the MVC and that trend should prevail in this one.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The under on the Ball State team total offered on PointsBet is worth a look. Ball State has only scored more than 70 points twice this season against Detroit and Howard. They are especially struggling from the free-throw line where they own a 53% efficiency which has not helped matters. The Ramblers have allowed 62 or fewer points in three out of their last four games and they should neutralize the Cardinals in this one.

Prediction: Ball State Team Total Under

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

I am selecting the under on the first half total. Ball State is only averaging 28.5 points in the first half and both sides are playing terrific defense. The Cardinals are holding opponents to 28.2 points in the first half and Loyola Chicago has only conceded an average of 27.3 points in the first half in their last three games.

Prediction: Under
