Drexel Piles on 89 Points in Second Straight Win
The Drexel Dragons had their shots falling in a solid 89-77 home win over Rider to bring their record back to .500. The Dragons shot a stellar 49% from the field, while Rider posted a 47% clip from the field. Dragons’ leading scorer Tramaine Isabell was tremendous, sinking a career-high 35 points on 11 for 18 shooting and collected 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. The junior guard is having a terrific season, averaging 22 points on 46% shooting and also leads his team with 9.1 rebounds per game. Sammy Mojica also had a strong night in the win, collecting 22 points on 50% shooting. The senior guard is having an inconsistent season and is now posting 12 points per game.
The Dragons have responded with two straight wins after losing three straight in the second half of November. They have lost to a few weak teams this season, but also notched an 84-80 win over a solid Houston team last month. Drexel is currently placed down at 221st in the Country in Ken Pomeroy’s College Basketball Rankings. They are scoring an average of 75.6 points per game, ranking them 178th overall. The Dragons are allowing an average of 77 points, positioning them at 265th overall.
La Salle Overcomes Poor Shooting In Win Vs. Holy Cross
The La Salle Explorers played a strong defensive game in their 58-54 win over Holy Cross in the Hall of Fame Belfast Classic in Ireland last weekend. The Explorers struggled from an offensive standpoint, shooting a poor 36% from the field, however, they did hold Holy Cross to 43% shooting. Explorers top scorer B.J. Johnson scored a team-high 15 points on 4 for 14 shooting and added six rebounds in the win. The senior guard is having a tremendous season, scoring at least 20 points six times this season, and is currently averaging 21.6 points and leads his team with 9.2 rebounds per game. Pookie Powell chipped in with 13 points on 50% shooting in the win over Holy Cross. The junior guard is only shooting 40% on the season and is second in team scoring with 15.7 points per game.
The Explorers have lost four out of their last six games after starting the season with a 3-0 record. They have faced a tough schedule including two ranked teams and managed to beat Temple by an 87-83 score in late November. La Salle is ranked at 139th overall in Ken Pomeroy’s College Basketball Rankings. They are only averaging 67 points per game, ranking them 306th overall. The Explorers are strong defensively, conceding an average of 67.7 points, placing them 88th overall.
The Drexel Dragons are:
- 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 road games.
- 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
- 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS win.
The La Salle Explorers are:
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Drexel.
I am taking La Salle in this contest. La Salle is playing solid defense, allowing 67 or fewer points in three out of their last four games, and they looked good in their two home games. Their two home wins included an 81-73 victory over South Alabama, and a big 87-83 victory over a solid Temple team. Furthermore, Drexel is weak defensively as they are allowing an average of 77 points, and offensively they are only shooting 42% from the field.
