The Northeastern Huskies host the Davidson Wildcats Saturday in college basketball action. The Huskies are off to a 5-4 start while the Wildcats are 3-5. These two teams played twice last year with Davidson winning -- and covering -- both of them. Tipoff is Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET at Matthews Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.

Davidson suffers setback

Davidson has loaded up its non-conference schedule with some tough opponents and the result hasn't been great. They are off to a 3-5 start and their latest loss was to Temple. After grabbing a 33-30 halftime lead, the Wildcats went cold in the second half and lost 66-53 at the Orlando Invitational Sunday afternoon.

Luka Brajkovicled the Wildcats with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, whileCarter Collins had 12 points and Kellan Grady added 11 points. Guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson had an off night with only had 2 points but he pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds. Davidson only shot 36 percent from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. They were outrebounded 38-27 and had 14 turnovers.

Northeastern hammers Maine

The Northeastern Huskies scored an easy win earlier this week beating Maine 78-63. Jordan Roland scored 28 points to lead the Huskies. Roland drained 5 three-pointers and was 7 for 7 from the charity stripe. Also, Tyson Walker added 15 points and six assists for Northeastern whileBolden Brace chipped in with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Jason Strong added 9 points and Greg Eboigbodin had 8 rebounds.

Roland is off to a blistering hot start. He is averaging 25.1 points per game, which is second in the nation to only Markus Howard of Marquette. It was the Huskies fifth win this season as they improved to 5-4. They have also scored wins over Weber State, Holy Cross, Harvard, and Boston University. They have lost to Drake, South Alabama, Old Dominion and UMass.

Take the Wildcats here. This one should be a lot of fun. Davidson is just 3-5 but they are a much better team than that. KenPom has them ranked No. 85 in the country, which means they have played a really tough schedule. They have lost to Temple, Wake Forest, Marquette, Auburn, and Charlotte. Most of these teams are top programs form power conferences. Northeastern has not been tested like that and I think it will show. Even though they are home, I think Davidson has too much firepower in the background with its preseason all-conference guards Kellan Grady and Jon Axel Gudmundsson. Northeastern also has a great back up, but Davidson is strong defensively and should be able to win this battle.

Take the under here. Roland has truly been spectacular this year averaging 25 points per game. he'll get his, but will Northeastern get consistent production elsewhere? They have not seen great production from the supporting cast against the better teams. Davidson is a good defensive team and both of these teams are very deliberate. Davidson is ranked about 270 in pace of play while Northeastern is ranked about 308 in that statistical category. Both like to play in the half court set so don't get expect a lot of fast breaks. Davidson only gave up 66 points versus temple and 73 against high-scoring Marquette, so don't expect Northeastern to score any more than that.
