A pair of mid-major programs take the floor when the Horizon League matches up with the Mid-American Conference on the hardwood in the Buckeye State. Oakland Golden Grizzlies Look to Earn Road Victory

Oakland had lost two straight and three of four before taking down Western Michigan on the road Tuesday night. The Golden Grizzlies look to earn another road win over a MAC foe in this contest. Oakland held a six-point lead at the half and held off the Broncos’ attempts to rally in the second half to preserve the victory. The Golden Grizzlies shot a hot 54.3 percent from the field, including four of 13 from three-point range, and connected on 18 of 24 free throw attempts. Xavier Hill-Mais led Oakland with 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the victory.

Daniel Oladapo puts up 11.8 points plus 7.7 rebounds a night while Kevin Kangu chips in 8.7 points plus four boards a night. Oakland is struggling at the free throw line as they are hitting only 66.7 percent at the line as a team.

Bowling Green Falcons Seek to Keep Rolling

Bowling Green bounced back from a defeat to Nevada by taking down Dartmouth in their last game. The Falcons look for their sixth win in seven games as they take the floor here. Bowling Green never trailed in the game, jumping to a 7-0 lead out of the gate, and led by as many as 19 in the first half. The Falcons saw their lead trimmed to nine at the half and saw Dartmouth claw within three in the second half before regrouping. Bowling Green shot 46.4 percent from the field, including 11 of 24 from three-point range, but missed half of their 26 free throw attempts. Dylan Frye led the Falcons with 30 points in the victory.

The Falcons come into this contest averaging 80.3 points per game, putting them 47th in the nation in scoring offense, on the season. Rating:

Oakland has really struggled this season on the offensive end of the floor. Part of that may be because Jaevin Cumberland transferred to Cincinnati, taking away the team’s best offensive weapon from a season ago. The Golden Grizzlies have to be better offensively and this should be a chance for them to shake things off. The problem for Oakland is that they are on the road and Bowling Green has been solid offensively. This season, the Falcons are looking to contend for the MAC crown. Look for them to earn the victory here and take care of business.

Prediction: Bowling Green Falcons -7

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

This one is going to be a clash of styles as Oakland is miserable offensively but very solid defensively. On the other side, Bowling Green has been putting up points solidly but they have had issues on the defensive end of the floor. The Falcons have to tighten up on perimeter shooters a bit as opposing teams shoot 35 percent from beyond the arc this season. Oakland isn't going to be a major threat there as they are hitting only 28 percent from beyond the arc. Will the Golden Grizzlies get their offense going here?

The under is 5-0 in the Golden Grizzlies' last 5 games following a straight up win, 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games, 9-0 in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 21-6 in their last 27 overall. Until Oakland can show that their offense is clicking, you have to fade them a bit in that department. Look for this one to end up under the number as their defense closes down on Bowling Green while the offense continues to drag.

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Bowling Green is tied for 108th in scoring offense on the season with 34.8 ppg this season in the opening half. The Falcons own a +2.8 ppg advantage in the first half of their games this season. Oakland has a +3.7 ppg edge in the first half of their contests this season. With that said, Bowling Green is 3-0 at home on the year while Oakland is just 1-3 on the road this season. It's hard to have a ton of faith in a struggling offense like the Golden Grizzlies. Look for this one to go toward Bowling Green at the half.

Prediction: Bowling Green Falcons

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Bowling Green has been a good offensive unit so far this season. The Falcons are averaging 38.3 ppg in the first half of their games while allowing 35.6 ppg on the year. That makes the average Bowling Green first half showing 73.9 ppg at halftime this season. Oakland averages 31.9 ppg in the first half on the year while allowing 28.2 ppg in those contests. That puts the Golden Grizzlies' average first half at 60.1 ppg this season. Seeing how tough Oakland's defense has been, this one falls under the number.
