The Oklahoma State Cowboys will host the Wichita State Shockers in non-conference action Sunday afternoon from the Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Shockers demolished Central Arkansas 95-69 on Thursday, and the Cowboys dropped an 81-74 home decision to Georgetown in their previous action. These teams last met in 2017 in a game Wichita State won 78-66.

Wichita State Rebounds from First Loss with Easy Victory

The Wichita State Shockers have posted several dominating wins this season. They have won by at least 10 points five times this season in a rather easy schedule. The Shockers rebounded from their first loss of the season against West Virginia with a dominating 95-69 home win against Central Arkansas on Thursday to cover the 24 point spread.

Erik Stevenson is locked in, netting at least 19 points in two out of his last three games overall. The sophomore guard is only shooting 41.3% on the season, and he is averaging a team-leading 13.5 points. Tyson Etienne has scored a combined 25 points in his last two games to lift his season average to 10.5 PPG. The freshman guard owns a 44.8% field goal efficiency and is averaging 10.5 points. Jamarius Burton has been one of the Shockers’ most accurate shooters. The sophomore guard is logging 10.3 PPG on 47.4% shooting.

The Shockers are currently positioned 48th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and this is their first true road game of the season. Wichita State is averaging a solid 76.3 points, ranking them 99th overall. Their defense has been sharp and they are holding opponents to 60.1 points, good for 29th in the country.

Oklahoma State Tagged with First Loss

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will look to rebound from their first defeat of the season. They opened the season with seven consecutive wins and fell 81-74 to Georgetown on Wednesday in a game that had the Cowboys labeled as 11 point favorites. Oklahoma State has defeated Syracuse and Ole Miss this season highlighted by terrific defensive play.

Lindy Waters III is coming off a season-high 29 points in the defeat to Georgetown. The senior guard will take several three’s per game and he is shooting 39% from deep. Waters IIII is averaging 14 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Isaac Likekele is having a terrific season, sporting a 56.9% efficiency from the field with an average of 13.7 points along with five assists per game. The sophomore guard is consistently producing, reaching double-digits in points in all but one game. Likekele is questionable for this one with an illness. Yor Anei is has scored at least 13 points in three out of his last four games. The sophomore forward is averaging 11.8 points and 6.6 rebounds.

The Cowboys are currently placed at 26th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and feature a 4-1 home record. They are scoring an average of 74.3 points on the season, ranking them 130th in DI. Oklahoma State is holding opponents to 61.3 points, good for 40th overall.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I am going with Oklahoma State in this one. Oklahoma State should be able to bounce back after they were tagged with their first loss of the season against Georgetown. They have topped Syracuse and Ole Miss this season, and they are playing stellar defense. They have allowed 63 or fewer points in five out of their last seven games and they are up against a Shockers team that is shooting a poor 41% on the season.

Furthermore, Wichita State has benefited from the easier schedule of these two teams which has inflated some of their stats. Their toughest opponent was against West Virginia and they lost that one by 73-65 score.

Prediction: Oklahoma State Cowboys

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

I expect a low scoring tilt as both teams are playing outstanding defense. Wichita State has conceded less than 65 points in six of their eight games on the season, and Oklahoma State hasn’t stood out offensively. They own a subpar 44% team field goal percentage. The under is 4-1 in the Shocker’s last five road games.

In addition, the Oklahoma State defense has been remarkable. They limited Ole Miss to only 37 points last week and their three-point defense has been stunning, limiting opponents to a 25% clip from beyond the arc. The under is 4-1 in the Cowboys’ last five home games, and it should cash again in this one.

Prediction: Under

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The under on the Wichita State team total offered on PointsBet is a solid prop. Three of the Shockers’ top four scorers are shooting below 45% on the season. The Cowboys held Syracuse to 34% shooting and Ole Miss to 26% shooting in their last two games respectively, and I expect them to post another terrific defensive performance on their home court.

Prediction: Wichita State Team Total Under

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

I am staying with the under on the halftime total. This should be a low scoring tilt from start to finish, especially considering the defensive stats. The Shockers are holding opponents to only 26.5 points in the opening half in their last three games overall, and the Cowboys have only allowed an average of 28.1 points in their last three.

Prediction: Under
