The Saint Louis Billikens will head on the road to battle the George Washington Colonials in an A10 clash Wednesday night from the Charles E. Smith Center. The Billikens dropped a 91-60 road decision to St. Joseph’s in their previous action, and the Colonials were thumped 89-63 by Richmond in their latest contest. Saint Louis defeated George Washington in both meetings last season.
Saint Louis Surrenders Season-High 91 Points
The Saint Louis Billikens will be eager to return to action after they were crushed 91-60 at St. Joseph’s in their previous contest. Saint Louis started conference play strong, however, they have now lost five out of their last six games to drop to 6-5 in A10 action, 2.5 games out of first place. The Billikens offensive issues continued with a 37% shooting performance against St. Joseph’s, while the Hawks were able to sink 55% of their field goals. Tramaine Isabell Jr. led the way offensively with 17 points on a 6 for 13 mark from the field in the Billikens’ latest loss. Billikens’ top scorer Javon Bess hasn’t been effective as of late, going 3 for 16 from three-point range over his last three games. The senior guard has eclipsed 20 points four times in conference play, and he is carrying an average of 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Saint Louis is currently placed at 142nd overall in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball rankings, and they possess a 3-5 road record. The Billikens are only averaging 66.9 points on the year, pegging them down at 311th overall. They are holding opponents to 64.6 points, good for 31st in the nation.
George Washington Drops to 3-7 in A10 Play
The George Washington Colonials will attempt to snap a mini two-game slide in this one. The Colonials are coming off one of their worst defeats of the season as Richmond handed them a rough 89-63 road loss on Saturday. The Colonials recorded a 48% field goal percentage, while Richmond was able to drain 13 three’s. Maceo Jack was a bright spot in the defeat, accumulating 24 points on an 8 for 15 shooting performance. The sophomore guard is playing well, scoring at least 14 points in three straight games, and he is up to 10.2 PPG on the season.
Colonials’ top scorer DJ Williams is locked in, scoring a combined 31 points in his last two games on 11 for 20 shooting. The junior guard owns a weak 41% shooting percentage on the season, and he is averaging 14.2 PPG.
George Washington is currently positioned at 264th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball rankings, and they hold a 5-8 record on their home court. The Colonials stand down in 12th place in the A10 with a 3-7 record, and they are averaging 64.2 points, pegging them down at 337th overall. George Washington is allowing an average of 70.8 points, placing them 167th in the country.
The George Washington Colonials are:
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.
- 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games.
- 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
The Saint Louis Billikens are:
- 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
- 0-8 ATS in their last 8 Wednesday games.
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I am siding with George Washington in this contest. Saint Louis is struggling right now, losing five out of their last six games overall. Their defense hasn’t been nearly as sharp, allowing an average of 71.8 points in that six-game span, which is not a good number considering they are a low-scoring team that is only averaging 67 points on the season.
Furthermore, George Washington is playing solid defense. They have held their opponent to 62 or fewer points in three out of their last four games, and I expect them to contain the low-scoring Billikens.
Prediction: George Washington Colonials
Full-Game Total Pick
I expect a low scoring defensive battle between two weak offensive clubs. Saint Louis has only averaged 62.7 points in their last three games overall, and the under is 22-4 in their last 32 games following an ATS loss.
In addition, the Colonials routinely score less than 65 points, and they have only averaged 56.5 points in their last two games. The under is 5-1 in the Billikens’ last six games following a loss of 20 or more points, and I expect the under to convert again in this one.
Full-Game Prop Bet
The under on the Saint Louis team total is a strong option. Saint Louis is slumping, and they are shooting a terrible 41.1% on the season, placing them near the bottom of the entire country. Also, the Colonials have only allowed 61 and 60 points respectively in their last two home games.
Prediction: Saint Louis Team Total: Under
Half-Time Total Bet
I am sticking with the under on the halftime total. This should be a low scoring contest in both the first and second half. Saint Louis has only averaged 29.3 points in the first half in their last three games, and the Colonials are only averaging 29.9 points in the opening half this season.
