The UIC Flames will head on the road to battle the Wright State Raiders in a Horizon League clash Friday night from the Nutter Center. The Flames are coming off a 71-58 home win over Green Bay, and the Ramblers routed Oakland 83-71 last time out. The Flames tallied a 76-72 home win against Wright State last month.

UIC's Defense Key in Recent Success

The UIC Flames are playing with confidence. They have won three out of their last four games to climb to 7-5 in the Horizon League standings, four games out of the top spot. The Flames defense has especially stood out which played a big role in their 71-58 home win against Green Bay last time out to cover the two-point spread.

Tarkus Ferguson is consistently producing in both ends of the court. The senior guard tallied three blocks in Saturday’s win, and he is sporting an average of 14.2 PPG and 5.7 RPG. Marcus Ottey has been one of the Flames top scorers recently, collecting at least 15 points in three out of his last four games. The senior guard has lifted his season average to 12.1 PPG on 46.5% shooting. Godwin Boahen has scored 10 or fewer points in each of his last three contests. The senior guard is posting 10.3 PPG.

The Flames are placed down at 241st in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and stand at 4-8 on the road. UIC is scoring an average of 67.7 points on the season, ranking them 278th in DI. They are allowing an average of 70.6 points, positioning them 214th overall.

Wright State Defeats Oakland, Holds onto First Place

The Wright State Raiders enter this one holding onto first place in the Horizon League standings. They are sporting an 11-2 record, one game ahead of Northern Kentucky. The Raiders have won six out of their last seven games overall led by consistent offensive production. They earned an 83-71 home win over Oakland in their previous action in a clash that had Wright State as 10 point favorites.

Loudon Love only tallied 13 points in the win against Oakland. Overall, the junior center is having an outstanding season and has eclipsed the 20 point mark six times this season. Love enters this one averaging 15.3 PPG and 9.9 RPG. Bill Wampler is the hottest player on the Ramblers, racking up 45 points in his last two games. The senior forward has improved his season average to 15.3 PPG on a 43% clip from the field. Tanner Holden has converted on over 70% of his field goals in three games in a row. The freshman guard has compiled an average of 12 PPG and 6.8 RPG.

The Raiders are ranked 124th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings, and stand at 12-2 on their home floor. Wright State is an offensive powerhouse, and are averaging a sizzling 81.8 points, good for fourth in all of DI. They are allowing an average of 70.9 points placing them 227th in the country.

Best Bets for this Game

Insiders Status:

I am selecting Wright State in this one. Wright State continues to shine offensively and they have won six out of their last seven games. The Raiders are winning games by large margins. Three out of their last four wins have occurred by at least 12 points. Not many teams in the Horizon League have been able to contain their powerhouse offense. They have registered at least 89 points in three straight games.

Furthermore, UIC is a low scoring team that is going to have trouble keeping up with this Raiders squad. The Flames are only shooting 43.9% as a team compared to Wright State who owns a 46% team field goal percentage.

Prediction: Wright State Raiders

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

This contest should be filled with scoring. The Raiders are very consistent in the offensive end and the over is a common trend as a result. They have scored at least 79 points in five out of their last six clashes, and the over is 5-1 in their last six games overall and 4-0 in their last four home games.

In addition, UIC was able to score a solid 76 points in the first meeting against Wright State. I don’t expect 76 points from UIC on the road in this game but they should post a decent number considering Wright State is allowing an average of 70 points on the season.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

Wright State should pile on the points and a play on their team total offered on PointsBet is a strong option. The Raiders are exploiting their opponents right now. They have shot a dazzling 58% and 52% from the field in their last two games respectively. Also, the Raiders have scored at least 82 points in five of their seven conference home games on the season.

Prediction: Wright State Team Total Over

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Wright State should have a big lead by halftime. The Raiders stand third in the entire country with an average of 40.3 points in the first half. UIC is one of the lower scoring teams in opening half where they are only averaging 30.3 points on the year.

Prediction: Wright State
