The St. Peters Peacocks host the Quinnipiac Bobcats Friday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game. Quinnipiac is 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the MAAC while St. Peters is 11-11 overall and 8-5 in the conference. St Peter's crushed the Bobcats when they met back in January by the score of 71-51. Tipoff is Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET at Yanitelli Center in Jersey City, N.J.
Quinnipiac drops 3rd straightThe Quinnipiac Bobcats lost their third straight game on Monday, falling to Manhattan 65-63. The loss dropped their record to 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the conference. The losses sent the Bobcats tumbling down the standings, but they are still just a game and a half out of first in an incredibly tight MAAC. Ten teams are within 2 games of first place as the season heads into the home stretch. In the loss to Manhattan, Aaron Falzon tied the game on a three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining, but Manhattan's Tykei Greene made a layup attempt with less than two seconds left to win it.
Tyrese Williams led the Bobcats with 21 points and 6 rebounds while Falzon finished with 14 points. Kevin Marfo added 11 points and 13 rebounds for Quinnipiac. Rich Kelly had 7 points and led the team with 4 assists. The Bobcats shot 19-of-45 or 42 percent from the floor and made 11-of-24 from three-point distance. The Bobcats were outscored 36-14 in the paint and they committed 25 turnovers.
Peacocks move into firstThe St. Peters Peacocks are coming off their best win of the season, beating first-place Monmouth on Monday by the score of 81-69. The win, at Monmouth, drew them into a tie for first with Rider at 8-5 in the MAAC. Quinn Taylor led the Peacocks with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while Cameron Jones added 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Aaron Estrada added 11 points and 3 rebounds for St. Peter's.
Foussenyi Drame added 9 points and 6 rebounds while KC Ndefo had a great all-around game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Saint Peter's outrebounded Monmouth 43-33 and scored 36 points in the paint to just 20 for Monmouth. Saint Peter's made 25-of-34 free throws, the most they've had in a game this season. The Peacocks also had 39 bench points to just 13 for Monmouth.
