The Siena Saints will host the Rider Broncs in MAAC play Friday evening from the Times Union Center. The Broncos posted a 73-58 home win over Niagara last time out, and the Saints filed a 65-49 home win over Fairfield in their previous action. Rider registered an 85-77 home win against Siena last month.

Rider Defeats Niagara, Remain in First in MAAC

The Rider Broncs are seeking their third straight win. They are currently in a first-place tie with Saint Peter’s with an 8-5 conference record. Rider is playing with confidence and they have tallied a win in five out of their last six games overall. They covered the nine-point spread in a 73-58 home win over Niagara in their latest action on Sunday.

Dimencio Vaughn continues to shine from three-point range where he holds a dazzling 45% efficiency. The junior guard only scored six points in Sunday’s win, and he is averaging 14.1 PPG and 6.5 RPG. Tyere Marshall is locked in, connecting on over 70% of his field goals in three out of his last four clashes. The senior center is up to 12.7 PPG and 7.5 RPG on the season. Frederick Scott went 7 for 9 from the field for 17 points in Sunday’s victory. The junior forward has increased his season average to 12.6 PPG on 47% shooting.

The Broncos are currently ranked 189th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are 4-8 on the road. Rider is scoring an average of 72.7 points, ranking them 132nd in the country. They are allowing an average of 70.6 points, positioning them 217th overall.

Siena Eyes Top Spot in Conference

The Siena Saints are playing some of their best basketball of the season at the right time. They have pulled off a win in four out of their last five games overall to lift their MAAC record to 7-5 on the season, just 0.5 games back of their opponent in this one, Rider. The Saints covered the eight-point spread in a 65-49 home win against Fairfield in their latest action.

Jalen Pickett has cooled off recently, scoring 12 or fewer points in three straight games. The sophomore guard is having a good season overall, recording an average of 15.2 PPG on 45% shooting. Elijah Burns is in a groove, shooting over 80% in four consecutive games. The senior forward is sporting an average of 15.1 PPG and 6.1 RPG. Manny Camper has accumulated 30 rebounds in his last three games. The junior guard has several double-doubles this season and owns an average of 13.7 PPG and 10.4 RPG.

The Saints are placed 171st in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and feature a perfect 10-0 home record. Siena is scoring an average of 73.3 points, ranking them 122nd overall. They are holding opponents to 70.9 points, positioning them 228th in DI.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I am taking the points with Rider in this one. Rider is looking tough to beat right now and have won five out of their last six contests overall. They are playing stifling defense right now, limiting their opponents to 66 or fewer points in five out of their last six games and they are usually reliable offensively as well.

Furthermore, Siena is an inconsistent team and they are only 4-4 in their last eight games overall. Their defense is well below average and Rider was able to accumulate 85 points in their 85-77 home win against Siena earlier this season.

Prediction: Rider Broncs

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

I am opting for the over in this matchup. These rivals played to a high-scoring 85-77 decision in the first meeting this season. Rider was able to shoot a dazzling 50% from the field in that game. They have also accumulated over 80 points in two out of their last three road games.

In addition, Siena should also contribute to the total. I expect Rider to contain them, however, they have reached 80 points in three out of their last four games overall. The over is 6-0 in the Saints’ last six games following a straight-up win and that trend should cash again.

Prediction: Over

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The over on the Rider team total is a strong option. The Broncs have no issues scoring on the road and Siena ranks in the bottom half in DI in many defensive stats. They rank down at 233rd in three-point defense and Rider shot 44% from deep in the first meeting against Siena, plus Rider hit 10 three’s in their latest game.

Prediction: Rider Team Total Over

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

I am staying with Rider on the halftime line. Rider has averaged a solid 35 points in the first half in their last three games. Siena’s defense has not fared well in the first half. They are conceding an average of 34 points in the first half this season, placing them 237th in the country.

Prediction: Rider
