They will be the favorite to win the CAA Tournament but have an outside shot of making the NCAA’s as an at-large. UNCW is 8-19 overall and 4-10 in the league. In their first meeting, Hofstra won this game, 87-72 from Long Island.
Who can stop the Pride?
Hofstra has had just one loss since November, falling to Northeastern on Feb. 2 by 14 on the road. Since then, they’ve won three straight, averaging 98 points in that span. On Thursday night, they jumped out to a huge lead against Charleston on the road and held on to win 99-95. Hofstra scored a record 56 points in the second half, but allowed 60, including 43 to Cougars guard Grant Riller. Leading scorer Justin Wright-Foreman had 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting in 40 minutes, while Eli Pemberton added 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The Pride shot 53.6 percent from the floor and the blazing 13-of-26 from three-point range. The Cougars shot 50.7 percent from the field and 10-of-25 from the three-point line. Rough stretch for UNCW
UNCW has a strong history in the CAA but that’s just what it is right now. It’s history. This season, the Seahawks have been awful. They are currently on a six-game losing streak and have lost eight of nine games. In their latest loss, they played well against Northeastern, but fell by four, 81-77 at home to the second-place team in the league. The Seahawks led by 11 at the half, but couldn’t hold on to the lead. The defense allowed 48 points in the second half, outscoring UNCW by 15. The Seahawks were led by Devontae Cacok, who had 19 points, while Kai Toews had 17 points and 10 assists. They shot 49.2 percent from the field and 7-of-18 from three-point range, but they allowed the Huskies to shoot 50 percent from the field and 11-of-28 from beyond the arc (39.3%).
Devontae Cacok leads the Seahawks in points per game with 15.0ppg, in rebounds with 11.8, field goal percentage (60.3%) and steals (1.0). On offense, UNCW is solid, averaging 76.9 points per game on 45 percent shooting (35.4% 3pt). The defense is a different story as they allow 81.5 points per game (345th) on 47.7 percent shooting (341st) and 38.6% from three-point range (344th).

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Pride was up big on the road against Charleston, a much better team than UNCW. The bigger issue for the Seahawks is on the defensive end. How will they defend Hofstra? They really can’t, even if they switch defenses. Hofstra plays solid basketball as they do share the ball well, even though Wright-Forman is the main guy. The Seahawks just don’t have enough to compete in this game. Blowout city.
Full-Game Total Pick
Hofstra could easily go over 100 points in this game unless UNCW tries to slow it down, which is not their game. They are allowing more points at home (84ppg) than overall (81.8ppg). Hofstra is 7-1 Over their last 8 overall. UNCW is 10-1 Over their last 11 home games.
