Game Stats

Oregon State Beavers

13 - 12

Southern Cal Trojans

18 - 9

A pair of Pac-12 foes lock up in the Golden State. The Oregon State Beavers head down the Pacific coast as they take on the USC Trojans Saturday night. Oregon State had a two game win streak snapped with a 75-68 road loss to UCLA Thursday night. USC snapped a three game skid as they edged Oregon 72-70 at home Thursday night. USC owns a 65-59 advantage in the all-time series and won the last four meetings, including a 74-67 win on the road in the first meeting this season on January 20.

Oregon State Beavers Hope to Earn First Road Win of Season

Oregon State gave it a valiant effort but they came up short on the road against UCLA to drop to 0-7 as the visitor this season. The Beavers fell to 13-12 overall and stand 5-8 in Pac-12 play with the defeat. Oregon State trailed by six at the half, cut the deficit to two with under 10 minutes to play in the game but promptly gave up an 11-2 run to go down in flames. The Beavers shot 42.1 percent from the field and went eight of 21 from beyond the arc in the contest. Free throw disparity and a beating on the glass doomed Oregon State: they lost the rebound battle 51-33 and saw USC hit 23 of 37 free throws to their 12 of 18. Alfred Hollins led the Beavers with 24 points in the loss.

The Beavers are average on the offensive end of the floor as they are tied for 179th in the nation by scoring 74 points per game. Oregon State is 184th in rebounding as they collect 35.4 boards a game and tied for 85th in assists as they dish out 15.2 dimes a night. The Beavers are tied for 125th in scoring defense as they allow 70.2 points per game. Tres Tinkle leads the team with 18.2 points plus 6.9 rebounds per game this season. Stephen Thompson Jr. is averaging 16.4 points, 3.4 boards and 3.2 assists a night. Drew Eubanks chips in 12.8 points plus 6.6 rebounds while Ethan Thompson chips in 9.4 points a night. Alfred Hollins, Kendal Manuel, Gligorije Rakocevic and Ronnie Stacy are the next guys in the rotation for the Beavers. Oregon State is hitting 46.9 percent from the field as a team this season. The Beavers connect on six three pointers per game but shoot only 33.5 percent from beyond the arc as a team. Oregon State is shooting 71 percent at the free throw line this season.

USC Trojans Seek Season Sweep

USC was beaten in three straight games on the road but managed to come up with the victory at home against Oregon. The Trojans improved to 18-9 overall and 9-5 in the Pac-12, two games behind Arizona for the top spot in the conference. USC was down one at the half and was embroiled in a tight game the whole way down the stretch before Chimeize Metu hit the game winning bucket on a layup with 0.8 seconds to play. The Trojans shot 51.8 percent from the field and hit nine of 22 three point attempts. USC overcame a 34-29 defeat on the glass and hitting just five of 12 free throws in the contest: Jonah Matthews had 20 points to lead the Trojans.

The Trojans come into this contest 63rd in the nation with 78.9 points per game. USC is 180th in rebounding as they collect 35.4 boards a game and are 31st with 16.5 assists per contest. The Trojans are 171st in scoring defense as they’ve limited the opposition to 72 points a night. USC shoots 46.6 percent from the floor as a team this season. The Trojans are connecting on 8.7 triples a night while shooting 38.1 percent from beyond the arc. Bennie Boatright puts up 13.6 points plus 6.4 boards a game for the Trojans: it was announced February 16 that he was done for the year with a knee injury.  Chimeize Metu contributes a team high 15.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks a night. Elijah Stewart puts up 11 points plus 3.4 rebounds a game, Jonah Mathews adds 9.5 points plus 2.5 boards a contest while Jordan McLaughlin chips in 12.2 points plus 7.6 assists a night. Shaqquan Aaron, Charles O’Bannon Jr., Nick Rakocevic and Derryck Thornton have to step up and contribute. USC has been average at the free throw line as they are hitting 72.2 percent of their attempts this season.

Oregon State

  • Beavers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss
  • Beavers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall
  • Beavers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. Pacific-12

  • Trojans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400
  • Trojans are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
  • Trojans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games

USC gutted out the win over Oregon in their last game but they now have to dig deep after the loss of Boatwright. He was the Trojans’ second leading scorer this season and that will put pressure on the rest of the rotation to step up and contribute. Oregon State has been inconsistent themselves and they are in danger of dropping to .500 on the year. The Beavers are winless on the road this season and that’s enough to doom them to a loss here. Look for USC to win back to back games with a triumph here.

Pick: USC Trojans -8
