Air Force Falcons vs Fresno State Bulldogs

Where: Save Mart Center

When: Wednesday, February 19, 2020, 10:00 pm ET

We have a Mountain West Conference (MWC) match up to consider for Wednesday evening when Air Force Flacons meets the Fresno State Bulldogs for an evening of MWC college basketball. Air Force is coming off a home win over San Jose State and Fresno State suffered a home loss to Utah State in its last contest.

Falcons Defeat San Jose State

Air Force is 10-16 overall with a 4-10 record in conference play this season. The Falcons has lost four of its last five games and Wednesday marks a one-game road trip. Air Force is 3-7 this season on the road and is in eighth place in the MWC standings and 10.5 games behind San Diego State for the top spot in the conference.

The Falcons score an average of 74.3 points while allowing 75 points per game. Air Force is shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from downtown and 73.9 percent from the charity stripe this season.

Air Force has three players scoring in double figures and is led by senior forward Lavelle Scottie. The senior forward is scoring 15.6 points with a team-leading 5.6 rebounds and two assists per game. Scottie is shooting 34.3 percent from long range and scored 22 points with five rebounds with five assists in the Falcons home win over San Jose State.

Bulldogs Fall to Utah State

Fresno State is 5-10 in conference play with an overall record of 9-17 this season. The Bulldogs are 4-7 this season at home and have lost three of its last five games. Wednesday marks game two of a two-game homestand and the Cougars are seventh is the MWC and ten games behind San Diego State for the top spot on the conference leaderboard.

The Bulldogs score an average of 69 points per game and allow 69.1 points per game this season. Fresno State makes 41.6 percent of its field goal attempts, 33.1 percent of its triple tries with a 70.6 percent free-throw shooting percentage.

Fresno State has three players scoring in double figures and is led by freshman forward Orlando Robinson. The frosh forward scores an average of 12.8 points with seven rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Cougars this season. Robinson is knocking down 27.1 percent of his triple tries and scored seven points with two rebounds in the Bulldogs home loss to Utah State.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

I will take Fresno State in this matchup. Neither side harbors any illusion about going on to the NCAA Tournament but that doesn’t matter to these teams because both will try and win. Neither team plays hardly any defense but both sides know how to put the basket in the hoop. Air Force is the better shooting team but Fresno State is the better rebounding and has a much better defense. I will take Fresno State to defeat Air Force in this matchup.

Prediction: Fresno State

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

My math has this one ending at 146 points and that seems to fall a little bit on the low side. There won’t be much of any defense played in this contest and Air Force has one of the worst defenses in NCAA D1 hoops this season. Fresno has the better defense and plays much slower than the just above NCAA average Falcons but that won’t matter because no one is going to defend anyone. I will take OVER 146 and below in this game.

Prediction: Over
