LSU Tigers (14-6) vs. Georgia Bulldogs (13-9)

The LSU Tigers will be looking for straight victory when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday. LSU defeated Auburn on Saturday, 104-80 for their third straight victory. Georgia lost to Florida on Saturday, 70-63. It was their third loss out of the last four games.

The Tigers are favored by 5.5-points in this contest. LSU has won the last four meetings between these teams, including a 94-92 victory in overtime back on January 6. LSU is 6-4 of the last 10 meetings.

Thompson Leads Tigers over Tigers

Cameron Thompson scored 27 points to lead LSU to a 104-80 victory over Auburn on Saturday. Thompson finished seven of 16 from the field, including 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. Four other players scored in double digits for the Tigers, including Trendon Watford who had 18 points and added 11 rebounds. Josh LeBlanc also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

LSU is eighth in the country in points per game at 83.1 while allowing 74.4 per contest. They are shooting 47.5% from the field, 37th in the country and are hitting on 76.0% of their free throws, also 37th in the nation. They are 18th in steals per game at 8.7 and 96th rebounds per game at 34.2.

Thompson leads the team in scoring at 22.8 ppg. Watford is second in scoring (16.3) and rebounds per game (6.9). Javonte Smart is also quite a force, averaging 16.1 points per contest.

Bulldogs Rally Falls Short

Georgia found themselves trailing by 14 at the half but pulled within five behind a feverish second-half comeback. Unfortunately, the comeback fell short as Florida defeated Georgia, 70-63. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Sahvir Wheeler with 27 points and Tye Fagan added 14. Fagan also led the team in rebounds with six.

The Bulldogs are averaging 77.5 points per game, 60th in the country while allowing 77.1 contest. They are shooting 46.2% from the field, 68th in the nation, and are 86th in assists per game at 14.8. They are 25th in steals per contest at 8.6.

Wheeler is leading the team in scoring at 14.1 ppg. Wheeler also leads the team in assists at nearly 7 per game. Toumani Camara is third on the team in scoring at 12.4 points per contest and leads Georgia in rebounding at 7.5 per game. K.D. Johnson is second in scoring at 13.3 per contest.

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Ok, I get that the trends support Georgia and go against LSU in this game. There is not a single trend that works in the favor of the Tigers so it would seem to make sense to go with George. However, I find 5.5-points to be a small number for how good LSU is.

Consider that the Tigers are averaging nearly 6 points more per game than Georgia and are allowing nearly 3 points fewer per contest. Plus, LSU has won each of their last three games by at least 13 points. Georgia has lost three of their last four games by at least seven points.

It was a very close battle the last time these teams met, and there may be an inclination to want to go with Georgia just because of the overtime victory by LSU. However, I like the way the Tigers are playing.

Prediction: Take LSU and give up the points -5.5 (-110)

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The total is set at 163.0. That is a lot of points. These teams produced 186 in their last meeting, but that was an overtime game. In the extra session, Get the latest odds and predictions for this SEC men’s basketball game between the LSU Tigers in the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday. 26 points were scored which would have made the total 160 had the game ended in regulation.

When looking at how this game will finish, I found it an improbability that this game goes over. The trends support over. For example, LSU has gone over in seven of their last 10 games and have gone over in six of their last seven on a Tuesday. However, this game is not going over.

 Take LSU to win, 84-77.

Prediction: Go under 163.0 (-110)
