James Madison Dukes at Delaware Blue Hens
Delaware plays their regular season finale and they hope to go 6-12 in the league, avoiding last place. James Madison (5-11 CAA) has a make-up game on Monday against Elon on the road. The Dukes were blown out at home against Hofstra on Thursday, 77-61. Delaware broke a 9-game losing streak against Elon last week, winning 72-57. They were on their way to a second-straight win on Thursday against Drexel before blowing an NCAA Division I record 34-point lead to lose by two.
JMU struggles against Hofstra
James Madison has been playing very good basketball as of late. They had won three of four games and the loss came against Charleston in overtime last Thursday. But at home against the Pride, the Dukes played their worst game of February as they fell by 16 at home. The Pride shot 56.5 percent from the field against them and 9-of-18 from beyond the arc. Freshman guard Matt Lewis led the Dukes with 23 points and eight rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting. Stuckey Mosley added 12 points but missed all six of his three point attempts. JMU was down by 12 at the half and never really recovered.
Mosley leads the Dukes with 18.8 points per game on 42 percent shooting (37% 3pt). Lewis adds 14.2 points per game and 38.4 percent shooting. On the season, James Madison averages 73 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting (33.1% 3pt). They are allowing 76.5 points per game on 45.8 percent shooting (37% 3pt).
Delaware sets a record
The Blue Hens led by 34 points (53-19) in the first half and 27 at halftime against Drexel. The game looked over from Philadelphia before the Dragons went on an 18-4 and 17-4 run in the second half. They used defensive pressure to get back in the game by forcing eight turnovers in the second half. The Blue Hens were down by two twice in the final two minutes. Ryan Daly nailed a jumper with 10 seconds left to tie the game at 83-all. Tremaine Isabell was fouled with 2.2 seconds left on a 3-point attempt and converted two of three to win the game. Ryan Allen led the Blue Hens with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting (6-10 3pt), while Daly added 17 points and seven boards.
Allen is a favorite to win CAA Rookie of the year with 15.9 points per game on 40.3 percent shooting. Daly leads the Hens with 17.2 points per game and 6.3 rebounds on 41.6 percent shooting. The Blue Hens average 69.8 points per game on 44.9 percent shooting (33.4% 3pt). They allow 73.6 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting (37.9% 3pt).
James Madison is:
- 5-0 ATS last 5 road games.
- 6-2 ATS last 8 overall.
- Home team is 4-11 ATS last 15 in this series.
The Dukes are 5-2 ATS their last 7 on the road against Delaware. The Drexel loss is just devastating for the Blue Hens. It’s hard to imagine that they will recover to beat a James Madison team that is playing well down the stretch.
