The USF Bulls will host the Temple Owls in the back end of a home-and-home series in AAC action on Wednesday evening. The Owls continue to struggle and are second-last in the conference as a result.

USF was able to collect an 83-76 road win against this Temple squad in Sunday’s meeting but haven't been able to win games with consistency.

Temple Hit with 10th Conference Loss

The Temple Owls continue to stumble. They have now lost six consecutive games to plummet to 3-10 in conference play on the season. The Owls scoring has been their biggest problem in the majority of their defeats. They have been involved in several close games in conference play which continued in Sunday’s loss to this USF team. Temple has covered the points in six of their 13 conference bouts this season.

Khalif Battle came through with a big 32 point performance in Sunday’s loss. The sophomore guard has now surpassed the 20 point mark in two straight games and has improved his season average to 13.9 PPG. Damian Dunn did not play in Sunday’s loss. The freshman guard has missed the last two games with a knee injury and is listed as questionable for this game. Dunn is averaging a solid 13.8 PPG. Jake Forrester has scored a combined 20 points in his last two clashes. The junior forward has filed an average of 9.7 PPG and 6.1 RPG.

The Owls are placed down at 144th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and have lost three straight road games. Temple is averaging 65.5 points on the year, pegging them 304th in the country. They are conceding an average of 70.1 points, landing them 182nd overall.

USF Eyes Sweep of Temple

The USF Bulls are looking to complete the season series sweep over Temple. They were tabbed two-point favorites in Sunday’s decisive 83-76 win over the Owls to end a three-game losing streak. USF is inconsistent from an offensive standpoint and stands in seventh place in the AAC with a 4-6 record. They have covered the spread in only five of their 10 conference tilts.

David Collins has shot 45% or lower in three straight clashes. The senior guard is consistently producing, sinking 13 or more points in four out of his last five performances, and is averaging 12.6 PPG. Alexis Yetna has earned three double-doubles on the season. The junior forward has lifted his season average to 10.1 PPG along with a team-best 7.7 RPG. Caleb Murphy has tallied eight or fewer points in four out of his last five bouts. The freshman guard owns an average of 9.1 PPG and 3.1 APG.

The Bulls are placed 125th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and have lost three straight home games. USF is scoring an average of 68.4 points, landing them 257th in DI. They are allowing an average of 69.8 points, positioning them 166th overall.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Temple is having a terrible season and has now lost six games in a row. They just cannot generate enough offense to win games as they have now scored 69 or fewer points in five out of their last six clashes. USF just dealt Temple an 83-76 home loss on Sunday, and I expect another convincing win from the Bulls on their home court.

Furthermore, the Owls defense hasn’t been effective. They have now given up 70 or more points in all but one game in their current losing streak. One of Temple’s top scorers in Damian Dunn (13.8 PPG) has missed the last two games and is questionable for this one.

Prediction: USF Bulls -4

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The Owls are one of the worst offensive teams in DI. They are shooting an abysmal 39.5% as a team which puts them 329th overall,  plus it doesn’t help matters that they rank down at 225th in pace of play.

In addition, USF doesn’t often score big points. They have netted 65 or fewer points in three out of their last four games and only converted 40% of their field goals in Sunday’s win against Temple. The under has cashed in three out of the Bulls’ last four home games overall.

Prediction: Under

Full-Game Prop Bet

Insiders Status:

The Owls 76 point output on Sunday was more of a fluke. They usually struggle from three-point territory where they are shooting 32.8% on the season. The Bulls are limiting foes to only 31.4% shooting from beyond the arc which is good for 40th in DI. USF should contain Temple in this one.

Prediction: Temple Team Total Under 65.5

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Temple was down six points at the half in Sunday’s clash. They have only averaged 25.7 points in the first half in their last three games. Also, USF is conceding an average of only 30.8 points in the opening half this season and should have a lead by halftime.

Prediction: USF -2.5
