The Georgia State Panthers will host the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Sun Belt showdown Friday night from the GSU Sports Arena. The Eagles posted a convincing 81-61 road win over UT Arlington last time out and the Panthers lost 86-76 to Texas State on Saturday. Georgia State earned an 82-77 road win over Georgia Southern in the first meeting last month.
Georgia Southern Looks to Climb Sun Belt Standings
The Georgia Southern Eagles head into this one on a winning note. They erased a two-game slide with a dominating 81-61 road win against UT Arlington on Saturday in a game that had the Eagles tagged as five-point dogs. Georgia Southern stands fifth in the Sun Belt with an 11-7 record and still has a chance to move up a few positions.
Ike Smith has cooled off, scoring 11 or fewer points in three consecutive games. The senior guard has come through with several big games this season and he has compiled an average of 14.1 PPG and 5.6 RPG. Quan Jackson has been the Eagles' best player recently and accumulated 26 points in Saturday’s victory. The senior guard has increased his season average to 13.6 PPG along with 4.4 RPG. Isaiah Crawley is also playing well and has connected on at least 50% of his field goals in six games in a row. The senior forward is posting 12.8 PPG on the season.

Georgia State Falls Out of Contention for First Place
The Georgia State Panthers will be looking to avoid their third straight loss in this one. They were in the fight for first place in the Sun Belt but have dropped two straight games to fall to 11-7 in conference play, putting them in third place, 2.5 games out of first. The Panthers were four-point dogs in an 86-76 road loss to Texas State in their latest action on Saturday.
