The Northern Kentucky Norse will host the Wright State Raiders in their Horizon League regular-season finale Friday night from the BB&T Arena. The Raiders came through with an 81-74 home win over Cleveland State in their previous action, and the Norse tallied a 61-59 road win against Youngstown State in their previous clash. Wright State crushed Northern Kentucky by a 95-63 score in the first meeting.
Wright State Seeks Horizon League Regular Season Title
The Wright State Raiders have clinched at least a share of the regular season Horizon League title. They can win the outright title with a win in this game although it is only for bragging rights. The Raiders have dominated for most of conference play which has resulted in a 13-4 conference record. They were not able to cover the nine-point spread in an 81-74 road win against Cleveland State on Saturday.
Loudon Love has surpassed 20 points in two out of his last four clashes. The junior center is tough to contain underneath the basket and is sporting an average of 16.1 PPG and 9.5 RPG on the season. Bill Wampler is also thriving in most games and has netted at least 17 points in three out of his last four clashes. The senior forward has lifted his season average to 15.8 PPG on a 43.8% clip from the field. Tanner Holden went a perfect 5 for 5 from the field for 12 points last time out. The freshman guard stands third in team scoring with 12.3 PPG on 62% shooting.
The Raiders are placed 124th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and feature an 8-3 road record. Wright State is scoring an average of 82 points, good for fourth in the country. They are holding opponents to 71 points, positioning them 224th overall.
Norse Rebound with Two Road Wins
The Northern Kentucky Norse have already clinched a top-two seed for the upcoming conference tourney. They are one game back of Wright State with a 13-4 Horizon League record. Northern Kentucky has recovered from its ugly 30 point defeat to UIC with two straight wins. The Norse were three-point favorites in a close 61-59 road win over Youngstown State on Saturday.
Dantez Walton continues to produce and has tallied a total of 42 points in his last two games. The senior forward is now averaging 16.4 PPG and 6.9 RPG. Tyler Sharpe has taken a step back, registering 12 or fewer points in three consecutive games. Overall, the senior guard is a big scoring that and has eclipsed the 20 point mark six times. Sharpe features an average of 15.2 PPG on 40% shooting. Jalen Tate collected 18 points in Saturday’s victory. The junior guard is averaging 12.8 PPG and 5.2 RPG.

Northern Kentucky is scoring an average of 72.6 points, ranking them 130th in DI. They are a terrific defensive team that is holding opponents to 65.3 points, good for 69th overall.
