The South Florida Bulls host the Memphis Tigers Wednesday in an American Athletic Conference clash. The Bulls are 10-13 overall and 3-7 in the AAC while the Tigers are 17-6 overall and 7-3 in the conference. Memphis has won 4 straight over South Florida including a 93-86 win back on December 29, but they failed to cover as a 15-point favorite. Tipoff is at the Yuengling Center in Tampa.
Tigers loses in OT to Tulane
Memphis is 17-6 overall and 7-3 in the AAC. They stand fourth in the conference, but just 2 games behind first-place Houston. The Tigers had a fiver game-winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 90-89 loss at home versus Tulane in overtime. Tylan Pope hit a layup with 20 seconds left in OT for what turned out to be the winning basket. Memphis' Kendric Davis missed a three-pointer with about 8 seconds left.

"They (Memphis) got to the second round last year, Houston got to the Elite 8, those were the only two teams we had in. And then Mountain West got four in and they all lost in the first round."

Davis had another strong game for the Tigers as he scored 26 points with 7 assists. He broke the all-time assist record in the game and he is only 46 points shy of becoming the AAC's all-time leading scorer. Davis averages 21.7 points and 6 assists per game. DeAndre Williams added 19 points and 17 rebounds for Memphis. The Tigers outrebounded Tulane 44-25 but made just 16 of 26 free throws. Memphis is ranked No. 46 in the country by KemPom.

These two teams played a very close game last time around and South Florida easily covered at Memphis. They are playing at home this time around and I also like the Bulls to cover here. As South Florida showed in the last game between these two teams, they match up well with Memphis. They have the size to match Memphis and actually out-rebounded the Tigers. They also have the type of offensive firepower to hang with the fast-paced Tigers' attack. The Bulls also come into this game with some momentum, having covered in losses at Temple and SMU, losing close games on the road. They will keep this one close enough to cover, too. Take South Florida here.

Memphis has one of the most prolific offenses in the country. They average 80.2 points per game, which ranks 25th in the nation. They are also amazingly efficient, ranking 33rd in field goal percentage and 46th in overall offensive efficiency, according to KenPom. In addition, they have one of the nation's best scorers in Kendric Davis, who is also among the leaders in assists and he has been nearly impossible to stop. But the Bulls have shown that they can run with anyone if they need to -- and they will need to in this game, as the Tigers play at the 128th fastest pace. So expect a track meet here and the score to go over the total. Take the over.
