When: Friday, October 11, 8:00 PM. ET.
The New Mexico Lobos will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on the Colorado State Rams in Mountain West action on Friday night.
Rams Trying To Snap Four-Game Losing StreakThe Rams struggled in the first half of the season and have only one win in their first six games. They will be trying to snap their four-game losing streak and pick up their first road win of the year when they face the Lobos. They will also be going for their 10th consecutive win in the series on Friday night.
Even though the Rams have only one win this season, they are better than their record indicates and could have pulled off the win in two of their last three games if a few things had gone their way. Despite their record, they will go into this game with a lot of confidence against a team they have dominated for almost a decade.
Colorado State has a favorable matchup against New Mexico thanks to their passing game, which is ranked 22nd in the country. The team is averaging 301.8 passing yards per game and should be able to pick up a lot of yards through the air against the worst pass defense in the country.
Quarterback Patrick O'Brien, who is filling in for an injured Collin Hill, has completed 59.3 percent of his passes for 974 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He threw for 405 yards against Toledo’s 120th ranked pass defense in their fourth game of the season and is expected to have another big game on Friday.
Colorado State’s defense is the team’s biggest problem this season. They are giving up 36.5 points per game and will have to play better than they have so far if they want to pick up some wins this season.
Lobos Trying To Snap Nine-Game Losing Streak To RamsThe Lobos are coming off a two-game road trip and remain winless on the road this season. They will be trying to stay undefeated at Dreamstyle Stadium as they try to pick up their first Mountain West win of the season.
New Mexico has been owned by Colorado State for the past decade as they have lost the last nine meetings between the two teams. With the Rams struggling this season, the Lobos have a great chance to end their losing streak, but they will have to do a better job on the defensive end, especially against the pass.
The Lobos are an average offensive team, but they have one of the best rushing attacks in the country, averaging 212.2 rushing yards per game, which is 33rd in the nation. They should be able to move the ball on the ground against the Rams, who have the 115th ranked run defense in the country, giving up 214.8 rushing yards per game.
If the Lobos can establish the run early with Ahmari Davis, who leads the team with 457 rushing yards and four touchdowns, they will be able to control the game clock and keep Colorado State’s offense off the field for long stretches of time and help them end their streak.
Colorado State is:
- 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight-up loss.
- 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a double-digit loss at home.
New Mexico is:
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games.
- 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
- 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games.
