Saturday afternoon Mac-tion and we will see the Western Michigan Broncos pay a visit to Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio to rumble with the Bowling Green Falcons. This game has a start time of 3:00 pm ET. The Falcons won this game by a score of 41-27 on the road the last time they met, which was back in 2015.
The Broncos are at 2-0 in league play after a hard-fought 27-24 home win over Eastern Michigan, while the Falcons check in at 0-2 within the MAC after a 52-36 road loss to the Toledo Rockets.
Broncos Win Hard-Fought Battle With The Eagles
The Western Michigan Broncos come into this game off a hard-fought 27-24 home win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles. that now puts them at 2-0 in league play and they will not look to make it 3-0 as they face a struggling Bowling Green team. The Broncos would also like to exact some revenge after losing 41-35 the last time these teams met, which was in 2015.
The offense had a decent showing against the Eagles as they ran for 152 yards and passed for 235 more. Jon Wassink has had a very solid season so far as he has thrown for 1658 yards with 14 TDs and just four INTs. He will be facing a Bowling Green defense that is 10th in the nation against the pass, but that is because teams just run on them as they are 130th against the run, allowing 332.3 ypg so far. Yikes. LeVante Bellamy has rumbled for 531 yards this year and he could have a huge game in this one. Jayden Reed leads the team in receiving, but Keishawn Watson has some skills as you can see below.
Keishawn Watson goes 🆙 and comes down with the catch.

The Broncos come in ranked 30th in the nation in total offense 29th in passing, 47th in rushing and 38th in scoring, putting up 35.7 ppg so far. They have allowed 30.3 ppg on the year, but still, are ranked a decent 53rd in total yards allowed and 35th against the pass. That pass defense will be tested against a good Bowling Green aerial attack. Western Michigan allowed the Eagles just 384 yards of total offense, but they did allow 178 yards on the ground. That will not happen here against a weak Bowling Green ground attack.
The Falcons Have No Defense At All
The Bowling Green Falcons have a solid offense this year, especially their passing game, but they will not have a good record when the season is as they just can’t seem to stop teams from crossing the goal line. The Falcons enter this contest off a game against Toledo in which they scored 36 points, but they still lost by 16 points as they allowed 52 points. Toledo had just 472 yards of total offense, but they ran for 288 yards on this defense. The run defense has been pathetic for the Falcons as they are least in the nation against the run, allowing 332.3 ypg on the ground so far. They could have trouble slowing down a WMU offense that ranked 47th in the nation in rushing.
How Did He!?

If the Broncos get their ground game going, then the Falcons are in big trouble as western Michigan can throw the ball. The Falcons are 10th in the nation against the pass, but we also note that teams have passed just 19.0 times per game against them while rushing 48.3 times per game. The Broncos will look for more balance in this one.
The Bowling Green offense has been solid all year and Jarret Doege has had a solid season as he has thrown for 1486 yards with 14 Tds and six INTs. he will be facing a tough defense in this one and doesn’t have a running game to help him out as the Falcons are 120th in the nation in rushing.
The Falcons Are:
- 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games
- 207 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game
The Broncos are:
- 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Bowling Green
- The road team is 4-1 ATS the last five games in this series.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Western Michigan Broncos are off a hard-fought home win over Eastern Michigan and now they take to the road to face a bad Bowling Green team. The biggest edge for the Broncos is on the defensive side of the ball as they have allowed just 386.3 ypg and 30.3 ppg, compared to Bowling green allowing 496.5 ypg and 48.5 ppg so far. the Broncos have averaged 35.7 ppg on the year and should be able to score plenty on this bad defense. The Falcons have averaged just 310.3 ypg at home and won’t have enough offense to keep this one close.
Prediction: Western Michigan -14
Full-Game Total Pick
I can see this as a high scoring game. the Broncos have averaged a solid 35.7 ppg on the year and will be able to torch a bad defense that has allowed 48.5 ppg so far. The Bowling Green is not great, but they will get some points in this one. Against Toledo, they scored 36 points and still lost by 16. I will look for a 45-28 Western Michigan win in this one.
Half-Time Side Pick
The Falcons have a bad defensive on their hands, especially their last three games as they have allowed 51.0 ppg over that stretch, while the Broncos have allowed just 26.0 ppg over the same stretch. I look for the Broncos to jump out to the big early lead at the break.
Prediction: Western Michigan -7.5
Half-Time Total Bet
Both teams will get their points in this one and it will start early. The Broncos will pile on the points against a Bowling Green team that has allowed 51.0 ppg over their last three games. Bowling Green has averaged 15.5 ppg while the Broncos have allowed 19.1 ppg in the first half. Look for the Broncos to have a 27-17 lead at the break.
Prediction: Over 36
