Coastal Carolina is giving up 26.5 points per game this season, but the team hasn’t played well defensively in their last three games, giving up 38.3 points per game. Fortunately for them, their defense shouldn’t be seriously tested by the Eagles, who are averaging 19.8 points per game.
The Chanticleers have done a great job on the offensive end, averaging 33.5 points per game, which is 43rd in the country. They are averaging 206.5 yards on the ground and 217 yards through the air. In their last game, the Chanticleers fell behind 17-6 at halftime and were forced to ditch their running game as they tried to catch up to Georgia State.
The team still managed to rush for 105 yards on 27 carries. Fred Payton led the way with 31 yards on seven carries, while Bryce Carpenter completed nine of 15 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 29 yards on four carries.
In order to win this game, the Chanticleers will have to play to their strength, which is running the ball, and will have enough room to do so against a defense that is giving up almost 200 rushing yards per game.
Eagles Going For Third Win In Five GamesThe Eagles were able to snap their two-game losing streak with a win over South Alabama in their last game and will try to pick up their second consecutive win with a win over the Chanticleers on Saturday. However, if they want to pick up the win, they will need to do a better job on the defensive end.
The Eagles are giving up 32.4 points per game, but they played well in their last game, holding South Alabama to 20 points. With the team facing the Chanticleers, who are averaging 26.5 points per game, they will need to play as they did in their last game to give themselves a chance in this game.
Offensively, the Eagles have struggled this season and are averaging 19.8 points per game. Even though they aren’t scoring a lot of points, they have done well moving the ball on the ground, averaging 223.4 yards per game, which is 23rd in the country.
In their last game, the Eagles kept the ball on the ground and picked up 310 yards and two touchdowns. Shai Werts completed 9 of 17 passes for 78 yards. He also added 102 rushing yards on 20 carries.
They will be able to move the ball on the ground because the Chanticleers are giving up 160.2 rushing yards per game. But, they will have to figure out how to get into the endzone if they want to keep up with the Eagles on Saturday.
