NC State Wolfpack vs. Boston College Eagles

Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA

When: Saturday, October 19, 12:00 PM. ET.

The Boston College Eagles will be trying to snap their two-game losing streak when they take on the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon.

Wolfpack Going For First Road Win Of The Year

The Wolfpack have played well so far, winning four of their first six games. However, the two losses have come on the road and the team will be trying to snap their road-losing streak with a win over the Eagles on Saturday.

NC State is a good defensive team, especially against the run, and are holding opponents to 66.7 rushing yards per game. They will face a tough challenge against the Eagles, who do a great job running the ball, but they should be able to slow down Boston College’s ground game and force backup quarterback Dennis Grosel to beat them with his arm.

The Wolfpack have also played well on the offensive end, thanks to a balanced attack. They are averaging 249.5 passing yards per game and 170.3 rushing yards per game, which is ranked 61st and 60th respectively.

In their last game, they were able to bounce back from their surprising loss to Florida State with a win over Syracuse, thanks to a very good defensive effort that held the Orange to 10 points. Bailey Hockman completed 16 of 27 passes for 205 yards and one interception, while Zonovan Knight finished with 61 rushing yards on 15 carries for the Wolfpack, who finished with 104 rushing yards on 34 carries.

They will need to get their offense back on track if they want to beat the Eagles on Sunday.

Eagles Trying To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak To Wolfpack

The Eagles have lost their last two games as well as their last two games against the Wolfpack and will be trying to snap both losing streaks with a win over the Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon.

Boston College will be short-handed in this game due to quarterback Anthony Brown suffering a season-ending injury in their last game. Sophomore quarterback Dennis Grosel will make his first start for the Eagles on Saturday. He completed nine of 24 passes for 111 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception filling in for the injured Brown in their last game.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they are a run-oriented team, averaging 253.2 rushing yards per game, and won’t expect Grosel to carry the team on his back in this game. However, they will have to figure out a way to move the ball efficiently against the Wolfpack, who have the fifth-best run defense in the country.

The Eagles will also have to do a better job on the defensive end when they play the Wolfpack. They are giving up 28.8 points per game and struggle against the pass, giving up 284.3 passing yards per game. If they cannot get pressure on Hockman and force him to turn the ball over, they will have a hard time picking up the win.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

This is an interesting matchup because the ATS trends favor the Eagles and the Wolfpack hasn’t won a road game this season. However, the Wolfpack are the best bet in this game because they match up well against the Eagles. Boston College’s bread and better is its running game, which is ninth in the country with the team averaging 253.2 yards per game. The Wolfpack have the fifth-best run defense in the country, holding opponents to 66.7 yards per game, and should be able to keep the Eagles ground game in check and force them to try to beat them through the air. If Anthony Brown was playing in this game, the Eagles would have a chance. But, he is out for the season and Dennis Grosel, who will get the start on Saturday, completed nine of 24 passes in relief of Brown in their last game, which does not inspire a lot of confidence going up against a defense that is giving up 19 points per game.

Prediction: NC State Wolfpack -3.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The Wolfpack are averaging 27.5 points per game and should be able to go over their season average against the Eagles, who are giving up 28.8 points per game because they will be able to move the ball through the air against the Eagles, who are giving up 284.3 passing yards per game. The Eagles are averaging 32.8 points per game, but they will fall short of their season average against the Wolfpack, because they will not be able to run the ball effectively against NC State’s stout defense, which is holding opponents under 20 points per game, making the under the best bet here.

Prediction: Under 53

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

The Eagles will win the first half of this game because they have outplayed the Wolfpack in the first half of their last three games, averaging 18.7 points per game while the Wolfpack average 13 points per game.

Prediction: Boston College Eagles +0.5

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

The Wolfpack and Eagles are averaging 31.7 combined points in the first half of their last three games and will go over the first half total in this game if they maintain their current scoring pace.

Prediction: Over 25.5
