Where: Michie Stadium, West Point, NY
When: Saturday, October 26, 12:00 PM. ET.
The Army Black Knights will be trying to snap their three-game losing streak when they host the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday afternoon.
Spartans Trying To Snap Two-Game Losing StreakThe Spartans haven’t played well in the past month and have lost three of their last four games. They will be trying to bounce back with a win over the Black Knights, which will snap their two-game losing streak and move them closer to becoming bowl eligible.
San Jose State has played well offensively during their losing streak, averaging 27.5 points per game. Josh Love led the way for the Spartans, completing 42 of 81 passes for 623 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. With the team struggling to run the ball, they will be relying on Love to lead them to victory on Saturday.
Defensively, the Spartans have struggled in their last two games and are giving up 34 points per game. They have struggled particularly against the run and are giving up 223.7 yards per game. With the Black Knights averaging 254.6 rushing yards per game, the Spartans will need to do a better job against the run if they want to pick up the win on Saturday.
Black Knights Going For Second Consecutive Win Over SpartansThe Black Knights and Spartans met for the first time last season and Army dominated the game en route to a 52-3 win. Even though the final score of last year’s meeting will give the Black Knights a lot of confidence heading into this game, the Spartans are a much better team this year than they were a year ago when they won only one game.
Army has the eighth-best ground game in the country so expect to see the team stick to what has worked best for them and keep the ball on the ground. Connor Slomka, who leads the team with 425 rushing yards and three touchdowns, will have a big game against one of the worst run defenses in the country.
Even though their ground game will help them control the clock, the Black Knights will have to do a better job defending the pass than they have all season because they are facing a team that has had a lot of success throwing the ball.
Fortunately for the Black Knights, the Spartans don’t have a good ground game, which will allow them to pressure the quarterback and force him into making mistakes. If they can force some turnovers, they should be able to pick up the win and snap their three-game losing streak.
San Jose State is:
- 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
- 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games.
- 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games.
- 0-4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October.
