San Jose State Spartans vs. Army Black Knights

Where: Michie Stadium, West Point, NY

When: Saturday, October 26, 12:00 PM. ET.

The Army Black Knights will be trying to snap their three-game losing streak when they host the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday afternoon.

Spartans Trying To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak

The Spartans haven’t played well in the past month and have lost three of their last four games. They will be trying to bounce back with a win over the Black Knights, which will snap their two-game losing streak and move them closer to becoming bowl eligible.

San Jose State has played well offensively during their losing streak, averaging 27.5 points per game. Josh Love led the way for the Spartans, completing 42 of 81 passes for 623 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. With the team struggling to run the ball, they will be relying on Love to lead them to victory on Saturday.

Defensively, the Spartans have struggled in their last two games and are giving up 34 points per game. They have struggled particularly against the run and are giving up 223.7 yards per game. With the Black Knights averaging 254.6 rushing yards per game, the Spartans will need to do a better job against the run if they want to pick up the win on Saturday.

Black Knights Going For Second Consecutive Win Over Spartans

The Black Knights and Spartans met for the first time last season and Army dominated the game en route to a 52-3 win. Even though the final score of last year’s meeting will give the Black Knights a lot of confidence heading into this game, the Spartans are a much better team this year than they were a year ago when they won only one game.

Army has the eighth-best ground game in the country so expect to see the team stick to what has worked best for them and keep the ball on the ground. Connor Slomka, who leads the team with 425 rushing yards and three touchdowns, will have a big game against one of the worst run defenses in the country.

Even though their ground game will help them control the clock, the Black Knights will have to do a better job defending the pass than they have all season because they are facing a team that has had a lot of success throwing the ball.

Fortunately for the Black Knights, the Spartans don’t have a good ground game, which will allow them to pressure the quarterback and force him into making mistakes. If they can force some turnovers, they should be able to pick up the win and snap their three-game losing streak.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Neither team is playing well at the moment with the Spartans losing their last two games and the Black Knights losing their last three. However, the betting edge in this game goes to the Spartans, who have played well against the spread and have won three of their last four road games. The Spartans will have a hard time slowing down Army’s eighth-ranked ground game because they are giving up 223.7 rushing yards per game, but they will cause problems for Army’s pass defense, which gave up 232 passing yards and three touchdowns in their loss to Georgia State. With the Spartans averaging 310.6 passing yards per game, they should be able to move the ball through the air at will and keep the score close, allowing them to cover the spread.

Prediction: San Jose State Spartans +9

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

The Spartans are averaging 27.6 points per game, while the Black Knights are averaging 25.7 points per game. Even though they haven’t played well on the defensive end, they are holding opponents to 51.1 combined points per game. Even if both teams hit their season averages in this game, they will still fall short of the total, making the under the best bet here.

Prediction: Under 53.5

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

The Spartans will cover the first-half spread in this game because they have outplayed the Black Knights in the first half of their last three games, averaging 14.3 points per game while the Black Knights average 9.3 points per game.

Prediction: San Jose State Spartans +5.5

Half-Time Total Bet

Insiders Status:

The Black Knights and Spartans are averaging 23.6 combined points per game in the first half of their last three games and will fall short of the first half total in this game if they maintain their current scoring pace.

Prediction: Under 24.5
