San Jose State plays host to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Saturday afternoon in a crucial showdown from CEFCU Stadium. Hawaii comes in fresh off of grabbing an upset the last time out, which served them well to get back into the win column. For the Spartans, back-to-back losses have dealt a tough blow to this group. With the Spartans having won two in a row in the rivalry, they'll certainly be looking to make it three straight in this one.

Rainbow Warriors Take To The Road

Hawaii has struggled this season and with a 3-9 record heading into this one, they have nothing more than pride to play for as they close out the season. A win last week against UNLV certainly turned some heads, though the Rainbow Warriors always seem to find a way to impress when they're at home. Going on the road is bound to be far more of a challenge and with an 0-5 record away from home this season, there's little doubt that they are likely to struggle in this one as well. While they have struggled to find wins, they have been one of college football's best at covering, which is something for fans to keep in mind.

One advantage is that Hawaii is one of the healthiest teams in the country as they close the final week of the season. Cammon Cooper remains the only player listed, as the backup quarterback has been ruled out since last month. With a consistent group of players ready to give it a go, it should bode well for this group.

Hawaii has struggled on both sides of the ball this season, while the offense will have its hands full against an impressive group opposite them. Ranked 100th nationally in total offense and 101st in passing, this group will have to rely on the ground game early and often, in an effort to control the game. Dedrick Parson (11 touchdowns) has a knack for finding the endzone and if he can get going, it should bode well for the visiting side.

Spartans Limping Along

San Jose State thought they might be able to compete for a title in the Mountain West, though a recent downturn in form hasn't helped. The Spartans return from their two-game road trip, having lost both of those, and will be in dire need of a win to close out the regular season. The losses have almost all been by single digits as well, so there's little doubt that this team has the talent to compete. With an undefeated record at home, the Spartans will be thrilled to be returning home, especially against Hawaii.

San Jose State also comes into Saturday with only one jury to report on. Charles Ross (undisclosed) is expected to remain out but shouldn't be a massive miss. With this group showing solid depth at wide receiver, a loss in the lineup to someone like Ross isn't likely to directly dictate how the weekend went anyway.

San Jose State hasn't turned too many heads in its own right now, though the defense is likely to be a game-changer in this one. Ranked 32nd in total defense, they'll love their chances against a Hawaii offense that has been dreadful at finding points on the road. The great thing for the Spartans has been their ability to stay balanced and with a pass, defense ranked 40th against the pass and 38th against the run, a they're likely to stop their opponent at every turn.

San Jose State is destined to dominate in this one and the main reason will be based on where this game will be played. The Spartans are 5-0 at home this season, while Hawaii is 0-5 on the road, meaning two teams going in opposite directions. Beyond that, San Jose State has one of the Mountain West's best defenses, leaving little doubt about their ability to continue to bend but not break. Additionally, according to covers.com, Hawaii is 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings between the two teams.

Prediction: San Jose State (-14)

With the way these two teams are trending, fans should expect this one to be a low-scoring affair. Hawaii has struggled on the road all season and the travel is bound to catch up with them in this one. Beyond having one of college football's worst offenses anyway, San Jose State has the defensive tenacity to make life difficult for this group anyway. Adding in that the Spartans have had their own struggles on offense, especially of late, this should be a low-scoring affair. Additionally, according to covers.com, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the two teams in San Jose, as well is being 9-4 in the last 3 meetings overall.

Prediction: Under 57.5
