The Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-4) will host the West Virginia Mountaineers (4-7) in a Big 12 matchup.

This was not their year

After starting the season 3-3, the Mountaineers have dropped four of their last five games and will not be bowl eligible. West Virginia is 2-6 in the Big 12, with wins over Baylor and Oklahoma, but they have lost by double-digits to Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Kansas State.

In games against Big 12 competition, the Mountaineers are eighth scoring 26.8 ppg, and last allowing 40.1 ppg. After leading the team in the 23-20 win over Oklahoma on November 12, the Mountaineers started Garrett Greene last Saturday at quarterback. Greene went 15 of 27 passing for 204 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Stumbling down the stretch

The Oklahoma State Cowboys started the season out 5-0 but have dropped four of their last six. With a 4-4 Big 12 record, the Cowboys have beaten Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, and Iowa State. The losses came against TCU, Kansas State, Kansas, and Oklahoma last week. Last week the Cowboys got off to a terrible start in the Bedlam rivalry game. Oklahoma took a 28-0 first-quarter lead and held on to beat the VOwboys 28-13. The Cowboys outgained the Sooner 484 to 434 in total yards but also lost the turnover battle four to two. , but did not score the rest of the way.

In Big 12 action, the Cowboys are ninth amongst 10 teams scoring 25.9 ppg and seventh allowing 32.5 ppg. Four-year starter Spencer Sanders leads the offense with 2,642 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions but is completing a career-low 58% of his passes.

Insiders Status:

The Cowboys will be looking for redemption after losing to their rival last week. As for West Virginia, they are playing for pride and to get some less experienced players some reps. Oklahoma State is better on both sides of the ball and will get this win at home, and winning or losing outright is almost exactly tied to whether or not these squads cover. The Mountaineers are 0-6 against the spread in all six of their Big 12 losses, and Baylor is 3-1 against the spread in their four outright conference wins. When head coach Neal Brown spoke to the media this week, he made statements implying that he plans to plan to go a little deeper into his roster and use some less experienced players that are being redshirted. Back Oklahoma State to cover.

Prediction: Oklahoma State -8

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Oklahoma State is only 99th in time of possession but second in the nation averaging more than 81 offensive plays per game. West Virginia is 35th running 75.4 plays per game, and has seen their time of possession decrease over the last three weeks. The point is that both offenses will get alot of scoring opportunities against a struggling defense. The Mountaineers have allowed more than 40 ppg against Big 12 foes and are also dead last, allowing 6.7 yards per play. The Cowboys are seventh in the conference averaging 6.0 yards per play. I recommend the over.

Prediction: Over 62.5
