Pirates Trying To Snap Four-Game Losing StreakThe Pirates have struggled against conference opponents this season and are still looking for their first win against a conference team this season. The team almost pulled off an upset of Cincinnati in their last and will be trying to do the same against the Mustangs when they play on Saturday as they try to snap their four-game losing streak.

East Carolina hasn’t played well offensively this season, averaging 23.9 points per game. The team is coming off a 43 point performance against the Bearcats and will give themselves a chance to get the upset if they can drop 40 or more points on the Mustangs on Saturday.
The Pirates have a good passing attack, averaging 254 passing yards per game, which is 45th in the country. They are led by Holton Ahlers, who has thrown for 2,207 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions so far.
Ahlers threw for a career-high 535 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception against the Bearcats and will need another big game to give his team a chance to pull off the upset.
Mustangs Going For Ninth Win In 10 GamesThe Mustangs suffered their first loss of the season against the Memphis Tigers and have dropped to third place in the West Division of the American Conference. They will be trying to bounce back from the loss and move into second place in the standings ahead of their matchup against Navy, who currently lead the division.
Even though the Pirates expected to be an easy win, the Mustangs can’t afford to overlook them ahead of their matchup with Navy, if they do not want to get upset on Saturday.

SMU hasn’t played well on the defensive end, holding opponents to 30.7 points per game. They were worse in their last game, giving up 54 points to the Tigers, and have to do a significantly better job to avoid a loss to the Pirates.
