Where: Malone Stadium, Monroe, LA
When: Saturday, November 9, 5:00 PM. ET.
The University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks will be trying to snap their two-game losing streak when they take on the Georgia State Panthers on Saturday evening.
Panthers Going for Fifth Consecutive WinThe Panthers have done a remarkable job this season, going from two wins last season to six wins and counting this year. They have won their last four games and will try to make it five wins in a row when they face the Warhawks on Saturday.
Georgia State has done well on offense this season, averaging 36.6 points per game, which is 21st in the country. The team has the 10th ranked ground game in the country and will stay aggressive on the ground against a team that is giving up 235.3 rushing yards per game.
Tra Barnett leads the team with 928 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while quarterback Dan Ellington has 512 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Panthers can also beat opponents through the air with Ellington, who has thrown for 1,771 yards, 18 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Georgia State’s defense hasn’t been very good, with the team giving up 34.9 points per game. They played well in two of their last three games, holding their opponents to 21 points per game, but gave up 33 points in their win over Troy in their last game.
They will have to play better defense than they did against Troy to get the win on Saturday.
Warhawks Trying To Snap Losing Streak To PanthersThe Warhawks were one of the two teams the Panthers beat last season, which has to leave a bad taste in their mouths. They will try to avenge last season‘s loss and snap their two-game losing streak to the Panthers when they play on Saturday.
Like the Panthers, the Warhawks haven’t done a good job on the defensive end, holding opponents to 38.6 points per game. Their defense, or lack of, has cost the Warhawks too many games this season and they will need to play better than they have, especially against the run, if they want to snap their losing streak.
Offensively, the Warhawks are averaging 28.8 points per game, which is 70th in the country. Even though their offense is not as potent as Georgia State’s, they do a great job running the ball and average 206.1 rushing yards per game, which is 30th in the country.
Josh Johnson leads the team with 849 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, while quarterback Caleb Evans has 511 yards and eight touchdowns. With the Panthers giving up 196.6 rushing yards per game, the Warhawks should also be able to run the ball against their rivals. If they run efficiently and play well on the defensive end, they will have a chance to get the win.
