Hurricanes Look For Their First Conference Win Of The Season

The Miami Hurricanes entered this season with the hopes of drastic improvement after underachieving over the past couple of seasons. Luckily, Miami started the 2020 season off on a high note as it was able to defeat UAB at home by 17 points. However, the Hurricanes were heavy favorites in that game so one has to wonder if they will continue to play that well now that it is an underdog in this conference game. Now, Miami will be looking to prove the oddsmakers wrong by winning its first conference game of the season on Saturday.

Leading the Hurricanes offensively is senior quarterback D'Eriq King who was pretty good in the first game of the season as he had 144 passing yards along with one passing touchdown. King was one of the top quarterback transfers in the nation, coming off a four-game season in Houston. In addition, he had 83 rushing yards along with one rushing touchdown so he showcased his elite dual-threat ability. Now, he will be looking to do the same on Saturday.

Miami's defense will be led by senior defensive lineman Quincy Roche who was good in the first game of the season as he recorded three solo tackles along with the team's only sack. Last season, Roche recorded an impressive 13 sacks as he emerged as a premium pass rusher and it appears that his knack for getting after opposing quarterbacks is still present.

Cardinals Look For Another Easy Home Win

The Louisville Cardinals entered this season with the hopes of another successful campaign after winning eight games including a bowl game in 2019. So far this season, Louisville has looked good enough to accomplish that feat as it won its season opener at home by 14 points against Western Kentucky. As a result, Louisville is now ranked 18th in the AP Poll so it is getting a bit of national attention. Now, the Cardinals will be hoping for another easy home victory on Saturday as they might be able to move up a few spots in next week's poll if they are able to put together an impressive performance.

Leading the Cardinals offensively is junior quarterback Micale Cunningham who was amazing in the first game of the season as he had 343 passing yards along with three passing touchdowns. In addition, he had 24 rushing yards along with one rushing touchdown so he made a serious impact in several offensive areas.

Louisville's defense will be led by junior linebacker Monty Montgomery who was great in the first game of the season as he recorded four solo tackles along with a team-high two sacks. Last season, Montgomery managed to record 20 solo tackles and five sacks so he is on pace to set career-highs in both categories barring any injury.

Full-Game Side Bet

Even though Miami looked good in its season opener, that was still a home game against an average at best opponent so I think that this spot definitely benefits Louisville. The Cardinals played their season opener at home so they did not require any travel and they looked good as well so I am expecting to see a bit more regression from the Hurricanes on Saturday. King is an extremely talented athlete but he is a slightly above average quarterback and I think that he will struggle to make enough throws downfield once Louisville contains him in the pocket in order to cover this spread. Give me the home team.

Prediction: Louisville -2.5

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Both teams possess extremely talented dual-threat quarterbacks so I can see a lot of points being scored in this game. Miami has King behind center who has the ability to create a ton of big plays with his legs and I can see him leading the Hurricanes on a decent amount of scoring drives as a result. At the same time, Cunningham has a very solid arm and good mobility so I can see him giving Miami's defense a lot of issues on Saturday. This game should end somewhere in the realm of 35-31 so I think that there is some value with the over in this spot.

Prediction: Over 64.5

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Rating:

Miami might have looked good in its season opener but it now has to play its first road game of the season so I think that it will get off to a slow start in this hostile environment. Louisville is a rare school that will have fans in attendance for its home games so I expect the home crowd to play a huge factor within the first half of this game. Miami has the talent to keep this game very close but I think that Louisville should benefit from the crowd's energy en route to a lead at halftime. Give me the home team as a result.

Prediction: Louisville 1H -0.5
