Seattle has unraveled on defense this season

The Kraken are having a rough season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.83 goals per game. Jared McCann and Chandler Stephenson have scored 18 goals and 39 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have nine goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense with ease.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been a mess, allowing 3.19 goals per game with 17 goals in the last four games. Brandon Montour and Adam Larsson have combined for 11.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. The one bright spot has been the play of goaltender Joey Daccord who has a .913 save percentage and a 2.47 goals-against average on 653 shots with 8.0 goals saved above average.

Nobody does it better when it comes to NHL picks!

Sabres hope offense can turn season around

The Sabres are having a season to forget despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.05 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games. Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and Jason Zucker have scored 48 goals and 48 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. JJ Peterka, Dylan Cozens, and Ryan McLeod have combined for 26 goals and 46 assists while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added 11 goals and 41 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down, allowing 3.31 goals per game. Bowen Byram and Rasmus Dahlin have combined for 11.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has struggled with a .898 save percentage and a 2.95 goals-against average on 837 shots with -1.6 goals saved above average.

Insiders Status:

Rating:

The Sabres have won two games in a row and they look to step up on their home ice and take over this game. The Sabres, who average 3.05 goals per game, should pile on the goals against the Kraken, who allow 3.19 goals per game, with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with quick passes. The Sabres should limit the Kraken offense, which averages only 2.83 goals per game, with Bowen Byram, Rasmus Dahlin, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to make plenty of big saves. The Sabres should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Sabres money line as home Favorites.

Both defenses have been awful and this game looks to be a high-scoring game from the opening puck drop. The Kraken should pile on the goals against the Sabres, who allow 3.31 goals per game, with Jared McCann, Chandler Stephenson, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Sabres, who have scored eight goals in the last two games, should run up the score against the Kraken, who have allowed 17 goals in the last four games, with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Jason Zucker, and the rest of the forward unit crashing the net on the rush and creating open shots with effective puck movement while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power pick apart the Kraken defense from the point. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game with both offenses stepping up.

Take the Over on 5.5 goals.

Prediction: Over 5.5
