Saturday evening pucks and the Metro Division will duke it out with the Pacific Division as the Pittsburgh Penguins grapple with the Los Angeles Kings at the Staple Center in Los Angeles California. The Penguins enter this game off a 7-4 road win over the Ducks, while the Kings are off a 4-1 home loss to the Senators.
Penguins Rally To Take Down The Ducks
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been a hot team of late and they stayed that way by rallying from three goals down to beat the Ducks on the road by a score of 7-4. Pittsburgh was down 3-0 after the first period and 4-3 after the 2nd period, but they hung up four goals in the final frame to walk away with the big win. Leading their attack in the game was Jake Guentzel, who scored a hat trick and now has 21 goals on the year. Tanner Pearson also had a solid game with two goals and he now has eight on the year, while Evgeni Malkin (14th) and Phil Kessel (18th) also scored in the win. The Pens have now won 10 of their last 11 games to stay within two points of first place in the Metro Division.
End of the 1st period: Down 3-0.
End of the 2nd period: Down 4-3.
End of the 3rd period: Up 7-4.

Grabbing the win was Matt Murray, who stopped 21 of the 25 shots that he faced to improve to 13-6 with a 2.85 GAA on the year. Casey DeSmith will get the nod for the Penguins in this one and he has gone 12-11 with a 2.47 GAA and a .924 save percentage on the year, including 4-6 with a 2.36 GAA and a .918 save percentage on the road. In his career, he has gone 1-0 with a 1.00 GAA against the Kings. The Penguins have gone 11-9 on the road and they have averaged 3.45 gpg and have allowed 2.45 gpg in those games. Pittsburgh checks in at 6th in the league in power play conversions at 25.6% and 4th in penalty kill at 84.2%.
Kings Suffer Bad Home Loss To The
The Los Angeles Kings have been the worst team in the league for much of the year and it really showed in their last game as they fell at home to the Ottawa Senators at home by a score of 4-1. The Kings currently have 37 points, which are the fewest in the league and they were facing an Ottawa Team that at the time was tied with LA for the fewest in the league. Ottawa is also one of the worst road teams in the league, so overall, it was a horrible home loss for the Kings. Now they have to try and beat one of the hottest teams in the league. Scoring their lone loss against the Senators was Kyle Clifford, which was his 7th of the year. The offense continues to struggle as they have scored 14 total goals in their last eight games. They will need much more offense than that to take down Pittsburgh.

Absorbing the loss to the Senators was Jonathan Quick, who allowed three goals on 26 shot attempts to fall to 7-13 with a 2.89 GAA and a .901 save percentage on the year, including 5-8 with a 2.76 GAA and a .904 save percentage here at home. In his career, he has gone 3-8 with a 2.63 GAA against the Penguins. The Kings have gone 10-14 here at home for the year and they have averaged 2.50 gpg and have allowed 3.08 gpg in those games. Los Angeles enters this contest ranked 27th in power play conversions at 14.6%, while also ranking 30th in penalty kill at 74.2%.
Los Angeles is:
- 9-23 in their last 32 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game
- 3-13 in their last 16 vs. Eastern Conference
- 9-1 in their last 10 vs. a team with a losing record
- 21-6 in their last 27 vs. the Western Conference
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Penguins are playing this game on no rest, but I still cannot see them losing this one. Pittsburgh has won 10 of their last 11 games and the Kings are the worst team in the league. The Penguins have averaged 4.50 gpg over their last 10 games, while the Kings have averaged just 1.75 gpg over their last eight games. That offense will not get going against a Pittsburgh squad that has allowed just 1.80 gpg over their last 10 games. Lastly, we note that Jonathan Quick is 3-8 in his career against the Penguins.
Prediction: Pittsburgh -160
Full-Game Total Pick
The Pittsburgh offense is on fire, but it might be a bit slower in this game as they are playing on no rest, plus quick has a 2.58 GAA against him in his career, plus the Kings have allowed just 2.70 gpg over their last 10 games. The Kings have averaged 1.75 gpg over their last eight games, while the Penguins have allowed 1.80 gpg over their last 10. The Under is 11-2-1 in Los Angeles’ last 14 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 20-7-2 in their last 29 games playing on one day’s rest.
Prediction: Under 6
