The Carolina Hurricanes will head to Bridgestone Arena on Saturday evening for a clash on the road against the Nashville Predators.

Carolina won its first game of the season to come in with two points and a 1-0-0 record. Meanwhile, Nashville will look to rebound after losing on opening night. These two teams faced off in the final two games of the preseason with the Predators winning both games.

Can the Predators take down the Hurricanes at home on Saturday evening?

Svechnikov leads Hurricanes to opening night win

Carolina outlasted the New York Islanders 6-3 in a high-scoring game on opening night. Andrei Svechnikov scored twice and finished with a team-high three points while Teuvo Teravainen added a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who used two power-play goals to pull away in the third period. Frederik Andersen stopped 25of 28 shots in his first regular-season game in an Islanders’ uniform to come away with the win.

Andersen is scheduled to be back between the pipes for the Hurricanes on Saturday night. Despite getting traded in the offseason, will have another chance to contend for a Stanely Cup with another young but talented hockey team in Carolina. The 32-year-old netminder never quite lived up to the lofty expectations in Toronto, where he spent the last five seasons.

Last year, Andersen finished with a 13-8-3 overall record in 24 games (23 starts) before losing his starting job to backup Jack Campbell.

Granlund's big night not enough for Predators

Nashville opened the regular season with a disappointing 4-3 loss at home against the expansion Seattle Kraken on Thursday night. Roman Josi scored on the power play while Mikael Granlund had a goal and two assists in the loss. Goaltender Juuse Saros had a rough start to the year, allowing three goals on 25 shots in the loss. Eevli Tolvanen also scored for the Predators, who came in with a .614 winning percentage in season-openers, the fourth-highest in NHL history among teams with at least 10 games. The Predators also had won seven of their last eight home openers and 11 of 14.

Saros is scheduled to patrol the crease for the Predators once again on Thursday night. The 26-year-old is 0-1-0 with a 3.05 GAA and .880 save percentage. Saros started slow but eventually turned the corner last year en route to an impressive 21-11-1 campaign. He posted a career-best 2.28 GAA in 36 games (35 starts) while posting a .927 save percentage, also the best mark of his career.

Last season, Saros had some trouble with the Hurricanes, going 1-2-0 with a 2.73 GAA in three contests. He is 1-5-1 with a career 2.65 GAA and .918 save percentage in 10 career games (eight starts) versus Carolina coming into Saturday's contest.

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

With the Predators playing at home, this game is basically a toss-up. Carolina flexed its muscles on opening night, cruising to a 6-3 win against the New York Islanders. The Hurricanes got plenty of production from their top line, which should be able to continue to produce in this game. On the other hand, Nashville is coming off of a lackluster performance against the Kraken and allowed Seattle to score on both of its power-play opportunities in that game. Take Carolina to come out on top in this early-season battle on Saturday night.

Prediction: Carolina Hurricanes -115

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

These two teams are projected for 5.5 goals but that number seems to be set a little too low in this spot. Carolina is fresh off lighting up the normally stingy Islanders for six goals. Meanwhile, Andersen was good but not great between the pipes for Carolina, allowing three goals on opening night. On the other hand, Nashville just gave up four goals at home to the Kraken, so there should be some value on the over in this spot. Take this game to go over the projected total on Saturday night.

Prediction: Over 5.5
