This Monday, there is a matchup between two Western Conference teams. Specifically, the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues will face off at about 8:00 PM. This will be the first meeting between these teams this season and it will take place at the Enterprise Center.

Goalie Matchup: The Avalanche will turn to Philipp Grubauer (5-0-1, 2.79 GAA) and the Blues will counter with Jordan Binnington (2-1-3, 2.93 GAA).

Avalanche Look To Keep Rolling

So far this season, the Colorado Avalanche have looked like a serious contender in the Western Conference. Specifically, the Avalanche have gotten at least one point in all eight of their games. In addition, Colorado has won seven of those games so it will look to continue its winning ways on Monday. However, it is currently in the middle of a massive road trip that will not be over until they return home to play the Ducks on October 26. Until then, the Avalanche will look to take it one game at a time in pursuit of a road victory against the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Leading the Avalanche offensively will be center Nathan MacKinnon who has looked great so far this season. Specifically, he already has four goals and seven assists in just eight games played. In addition, he also has a Plus/Minus rating of +2 so the team has been extremely solid whenever he is on the ice. MacKinnon has already established himself as one of the best players in the entire league and he will look to showcase his talent once again on Monday.

The starting goalie for the Avalanche in this game will be Philipp Grubauer who has been great so far this season. Specifically, he has a 5-0-1 record and a 2.79 GAA along with a .919 save percentage. Last season, Grubauer went 0-0-2 with a 2.87 GAA and an .891 save percentage against the Blues so he will look to finally get himself a victory against them in Monday's matchup.

Blues Look To Snap Losing Streak

So far this season, the St. Louis Blues have looked a bit underwhelming. After winning the Stanley Cup last season, people expected the Blues to coast to another playoff berth en route to potentially another title. However, St. Louis has come out extremely sluggish this season and has only won three of its first eight games. In addition, the Blues have not won each of their last four games and they will look to return to their winning ways on Monday. The Blues could also use these two points because they are tied for third place in the Central Division. Look for St. Louis to come out motivated to put in a good performance at home as a result.

Leading the Blues offensively will be right-winger Vladimir Tarasenko who has looked great so far this season. Specifically, he already has two goals and five assists through eight games. However, he has a Plus/Minus Rating of -4 which is tied for the worst rating on the entire roster. If Tarasenko plans on helping the Blues in the future, he will have to play much better on even strength.

The starting goalie for the Blues in this game will be Jordan Binnington who has been okay so far this season. Specifically, he has a 2-1-3 record and a 2.93 GAA along with a .909 save percentage. Last season, Binnington went 1-0-0 with a 1.85 GAA and a .923 save percentage against the Avalanches so he will look to continue his winning ways against them on Monday night at home.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Simply put, Colorado has been one of the best teams in the NHL so far this season while St. Louis has stumbled a bit out of the gate. St. Louis also enters this game on a four-game losing streak so I do not trust this team in Monday's game. It should be a very close hockey game but I think that Colorado will be able to use its elite speed to overwhelm St. Louis' defense. Give me the road team as a result.

Prediction: Colorado Avalanche

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Even though both teams possess a lot of offensive weapons, these two starting goalies are elite so I will take the under. Binnington just carried the Blues to a Stanley Cup last season so he has the ability to shutdown any opposing offense while Grubauer has been amazing this season with a 5-0-1 record. This game should end somewhere in the realm of 3-2. Give me the under as a result.

Prediction: Under 6
