Winnipeg Jets (11-6-1) vs. Dallas Stars (12-5-3)

The 2022-23 NHL betting action continues Friday with this Western Conference battle when the Winnipeg Jets travel to take on the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Winnipeg is in the second of a three-game road trip that saw the team lose in Minnesota on Wednesday night, 6-1. Dallas will be finishing up a four-game homestand on Friday. They are 2-0-1 through the first three games, including a 6-4 victory over Chicago on Wednesday. These clubs have already met twice this season, with the home team winning both games.

Jets Shredded by Wild

The Winnipeg Jets (11-6-1, 10-8 ATS) gave up two goals in the second and three in the third as they were shredded by the Minnesota Wild, 6-1. Kyle Connor had the lone goal in the contest, his sixth of the year. The loss moved Winnipeg to 4-4-1 on the road this season. The Jets gave up two power-play goals in the contest which is surprising, as they have the fifth-best penalty-killing unit in the NHL (83.0%).

"I'm not a believer in these 'learn lessons,'" Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness said. "I believe there are harsh reminders of how to play this game the right way. Harsh reminders of how to win in this league.

Connor Hellebuyck has been having an outstanding season, but he struggled in this contest, giving up six goals on 39 shots. The Jets netminder is 8-5-1 with a 2.35 GAA any .928 save percentage, helping Winnipeg to the fifth-best goals-against average in the NHL (2.61). However, offensive production has been down, as they are 25th overall goals per game (2.83).

Stars Rally for Five in Third to Down Chicago

The Dallas Stars (12-5-3, 14-6 ATS) found themselves trailing by three in the third period but rallied for five unanswered goals to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks, 6-4. Five different players scored in the decisive frame, including Jamie Benn scoring his ninth goal of the season on the power play. The victory moved Dallas to 6-2-1 at home this season as the Stars hold a four-point advantage over Colorado for the top spot in the Central Division.

"I wasn't sure because I kind of was behind the goal line," said Radek Faksa, who scored the winning goal. "I knew at least half the puck was in, but couldn't tell if it was all the way. Right away when I [got to] the bench, they told me it was in. It was a big relief and a big turnaround.” You

Dallas has proven themselves to be one of the most efficient teams in hockey this season. The special teams have been spectacular, second in the power play (30.4%) and fourth in penalty killing (83.1%). That has helped the club to the second-best goals per game average (3.95) and ninth-best goals against average (2.75). Jason Robertson had a goal in the victory, giving him six over his last five games.

Insiders Status:

The home team has had their way between these teams this season. Dallas defeated Winnipeg at home on October 17, 4-1, and the Jets responded with a 5-1 victory at home on November 9. That has given the home team nine victories out of the last 10 meetings between these teams.

Dallas also enters this game playing exceptionally well. They have earned points in six straight games, going 4-0-2 in that span. In fact, the club is 7-2-2 in November. They are getting outstanding performances across all four lines, and the goaltending has been spectacular. This is only the fourth game on the road this month for the Jets, and they are 1-2-0 through the first three, with the only victory being in overtime win against Seattle. Not exactly stellar performances.

Prediction: Take the Dallas Stars (-165)

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

These clubs have traditionally seen high-scoring affairs when they played one another, as 12 of the last 21 meetings have gone over. Dallas has gone over in nine of their last 12 and has gone over in five of their last six at home. Taking it a little deeper, the Stars have scored at least five goals in four of their last six games and have scored at least four in six of their last seven.

No doubt Dallas can keep up offensive lead to create a high-scoring affair. Winnipeg is only averaging 2.83 goals per game and is coming off a performance when they only scored one goal. In fact, they have only produced five goals over their last three games, with four of those coming in overtime victory over Carolina. However, that came after the team scored at least three goals in five of six contests. There is enough offense to push this to seven total goals scored in this contest.

Prediction: Go over 6.0 (-115)
